ELISE'S POV
I blinked, looking at them in disbelief. I was scared.
Why did they want me to follow them?
“Get up,” one of them said, grabbing my arm roughly. The other seized my other arm, and together they dragged me to my feet. My legs wobbled, barely supporting my weight after the harsh wake-up.
“What’s happening?” I asked. The guards didn’t respond. They just dragged me out of the room.
My bare feet scraped against the hard floor as they dragged me. In that moment, I started to panic. They led me through the hallways. Finally, we stopped in front of a familiar door.
Jackson’s chambers. The guards opened the door and threw me inside. I stumbled and fell to my knees, right at Jackson’s feet. My heart pounded as I looked up at him. I couldn't believe this was the man I had once loved.
“Jackson,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “Why are you doing this?” He smirked.
“Elise, Elise. Always so dramatic.” He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. “Why? Because you deserve it.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“After everything I did for you while we were married, this is how you treat me? Why are you being so cruel? I loved you”
Jackson’s smirk widened. “Oh, Elise, you were useful once. But now? Now, you’re just an inconvenience.” His words cut deep into my heart like a knife.
It hurt me so much. I had given everything to this man, and now he was treating me like garbage.
“I can’t believe I ever loved you,” I spat “I regret everything I ever did for you.”
Jackson’s eyes flashed with anger, and he stood up, towering over me. He grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet.
“Regret, huh? You’ll regret even more soon enough.” He pushed me back, and I stumbled, barely keeping my balance.
“What do you mean?” I asked. “You’re going to be Gina’s new personal maid,” he said, his voice dripping with mockery.
They dragged me out of the room. I fought against them, but they were too strong. At a point, I stopped. There was no use. They had direct orders on what to do. They carried me outside the palace building and to the backyard where a small farm was.
They dragged them me near a pigsty. When I saw the pigsty, I knew this wouldn't end well. I knew what they were about to do.
“No, please,” I begged “Don’t do this.” But they ignored me. They opened the gate and pushed me inside, right into a pile of filth.
I landed hard in a huge pile of poop. I struggled to get up, but the slippery muck made it difficult. I looked up at them.
My body trembled with feelings of anger, and humiliation. The guards stood there, watching me with cold eyes.
“This is your new home, Elise,” one of them said in a mocking tone.
I wanted to scream, to fight back, but I was too exhausted, too broken. I collapsed into the muck, sobbing uncontrollably. How had my life come to this? How had I fallen so far?
