JACKSON'S POV

Sitting at my desk, I tried to focus on the stack of paperwork in front of me, but my mind kept drifting back to Elise.

Images of her face filled my mind, making it impossible for me to focus. I clenched my jaw, trying to shove her out of my thoughts. She’s nothing but a nobody, I tell myself. Yet, my wolf stirred inside me, growling with dissatisfaction at my attempts to deny my feelings.

I leaned back in my chair and ran a hand through my hair. The tension in my body at the thought of her refused to go away. I thought about our marriage. Even I couldn't deny the fact that Elise was the perfect wife. She was submissive and always ready to please me in all ways.

She stroked my ego and made me feel like the king that I was. She was always at my beck and call, willing to do whatever I said.

Where did it all go wrong? Why then did she ask for a divorce? I shook my head, clearing my thoughts.

I began to think of more important things. The documents I submitted to Ferris still haven’t been approved. I felt a little anxious at the thought of it. What if he realizes the documents are fake? What if he exposes everything to the council?

I’ve worked too hard to let everything fall apart now. The door to my office creaked open, and I looked up to see Gina coming in. She was dressed in a flimsy lingerie set and heels. She smiled seductively at me.

“Surprise,” she purred, closing the door behind her. A welcome distraction. I pushed thoughts of Elise and the council aside as my eyes raked over Gina's amazing body.

“Gina,” I smiled "What are you doing here?”

“Giving you a break,” she replied, dropping to her knees in front of me. She reached for my belt.

The sight of her ready and willing ignited a spark of lust in me.

For a moment, I managed to forget everything else. Gina’s hands were skilled, and soon she had me undone.

Oh fuck.

I turned and left the room, ignoring Gina's angry stare. I didn't know what's wrong with me, and I guessed I really need some fresh air.

As I made my rounds of the pack I saw Elise working at the corner of the utility room, talking to my mom.

Was she trying to use my mom to get back together with me?

I clenched my fist, resisting the urge to ask her. Instead, I gave her a scornful look and walked away.

I would wait until she begged me to be with her again.
