Upon hearing this, Vivian couldn't figure out if Renee’s behavior was typical or if it was just her not understanding Renee well enough. Either way, Vivian was fuming.

Renee, catching a glimpse of this, nearly laughed out loud.

She casually picked up a piece of abalone for Marcelo. "The chef mentioned the seafood is especially fresh today. Try some!"

It was her way of giving a treat.

Marcelo looked surprised, his eyebrows shooting up as if questioning whether everything was still right with the world.

At that, Vivian clenched her jaw and quickly grabbed a small bowl. She filled it halfway with the mash potatoes and sparerib soup she'd prepared and offered it to Marcelo.

“Marcelo, have a taste. Do you think my cooking has gotten better?"Vivian offered a smile and continued, "I haven't had much chance to cook while I was overseas these past few years. I've only made soup for you before. Don't you feel lucky?"

Renee shot Vivian a frosty look, which Vivian chose to ignore.

Marcelo was about to try the soup, doing it for Sebastian’s sake.

But just as he took the bowl,Renee suddenly stood up and rushed to the bathroom, her hand over her mouth.

“Renee!"Marcelo was stunned and quickly set his cutleries down to follow her.

“What's the matter? Are you okay?"Marcelo asked, holding her steady with one hand while rubbing her back with the other, too anxious to notice his own reaction.

Renee shook her head, took some mouthwash from a servant, and managed to say, "The soup's smell made me want to throw up."

Vivian, who just walked in and heard this, was furious.

“What is this bitch implying? How dare she insult my soup like that?" she muttered to herself, her face turning a shade of angry red.

“Miss Hudson, is there something you'd like to say to me?"Vivian asked, pretending to be hurt.

Renee muttered under her breath, "Isn't it obvious I have an issue with you?"

But before she could respond, her nausea saved her from answering.

Out of the blue,Chad asked, "Mrs. King, could you be pregnant?"

Renee could feel Marcelo’s grip tighten around her waist, a clear sign he was emotionally stirred. Hearing this,Vivian’s eyes went wide with shock. It felt like a direct hit.

“Let's get you to the hospital immediately!"Marcelo quickly scooped Renee up, his voice shaking as he spoke.
