Chapter 166
Torq waved his finger her at, “Bastiano is saying he approves but if her parents find out, you’re facing her mother on your own.”
“It’s her body. Her mother can piss off the same way mine does.”
“Am I missing something?” Karolos interjected the argument.
“Genevra was entangled with a couple back home who bought her clothing and jewelry to spend time with them, and it ended badly. She’s incredibly beautiful but sheltered by her family. Her brother rarely let her around any men and her parents live on a remote farm and expect her to do chores instead of living her own life. While Bastiano was away from home for a short bit, she met this couple and became a kept girl for a brief time.” Alcee shrugged, “she wants to make her own money to spend on the very pretty things she likes. She loves beautiful, expensive clothing.”
“Alcee is going to help her auction her virginity online.” Tito said bluntly.
“Hey, it worked out for me.”
“You were luck!” Tito laughed. “You found the guy you were supposed to marry anyway.”
“True.”
Karolos laughed, “a girl’s gotta do?”
“Exactly!” She pointed at him smiling. “I like this guy, Torq. We should keep him.”
Torq shot her an annoyed glance.
“It wouldn’t be a bad idea. I own a string of casinos in Atlantic City and Vegas. We could collaborate I’m sure. Better associates than enemies.”
“I know we have more than a few mutual business associates and I’m surprised our paths haven’t crossed before now,” Torq nodded. “You keep Mariani in check though. I’ll rip his tongue from his fucking throat if he comes for my wife again. He’s alive only because he is her blood. I gave him intel to help him take his father down and he repays me like this? I am not happy.”
“I do not blame you. Again, though, I fear his mother was the one whispering in his ear. I think he is feeling tremendous amounts of guilt towards her for leaving her living with the prick of her husband all alone.”
“She made her bed,” Alcee whispered and then looked up in the room. “That’s the line he used on me every time I questioned why they cut me off. I made my bed. Well, she made hers. I know as a woman, people expect me to be soft and forgiving but, they wanted to sell my body to a man I didn’t know to be brood mare. My mother was so angry over the fact they were losing money; she locked me in a room and called my father. She stood with him, arm–in–arm, the day he threw me out. She was there the day he dragged me back and told me to abort my child and while she did stand in front of him to keep me from being murdered, it was the very least she could do She never spoke to me again until today. I find it difficult to believe her words, to trust what she is doing, is anything other than a woman facing her mortality and trying it to make amends before she meets her maker. She is not doing this for me. She is doing it for her own sense of guilt, and I do not owe her anything. If I were a man, nobody would question my opinion on this. Because I am a woman, I’m expected to bend and accept she is doing this for my own good. She knows you have money that you might be more willing to share than Torq. Greed and selfishness is not familial love.”
“You are right,” Torq nodded.
Genevra came in pushing a little cart, “brought coffee and some biscuits.” Her feet stumbled as she looked at the man lounging on the chair with one knee bent.
Alcee watched with interest at the way Karolos Pavlidis looked at Genevra. In her little vintage dress with her hair all done up, she caught his eye, and he dropped his leg and leaned forward to look at her.
“You’re twenty–one?”
“Yes.”
“You do not have a lover?”
The bold question made Alcee snicker and Genevra pale and swallow as her eyes trailed over the man.
Chapter 166
“No. I don’t.” she lifted her chin with a spark in her eyes.
Tito groaned, “Kylen is going to be pissed.”
“You’re going to auction yourself the way Alcee did?” Karolos asked, his elbows now resting on his knees as he appraised the woman in front of him.
“It’s my body and my choice. I’m done waiting for love and romance. To hell with that. The last guy I was interested in, thinks I’m a child and treats me as such. No more. I’m not playing with men’s feelings just to feel validated. I can validate my own feelings by buying a new pair of Louis Vuitton with my own money.”
“Fifty million.”
Alcee choked on her spit while Torq pulled his head back in surprise. Tito’s leg buckled and he grabbed the back of a chair. Lefteris snickered.
“What?”
“No auction. Fifty million. Two conditions. One. You marry me. You lose your virginity on our wedding night. Two. I want one kid. I don’t care if it’s male or female. I want an heir. You’ll get fifty million of your own money to spend how you want but I will spoil you rotten for the rest of the days of your life. Torq can draw the contract if want. I’ll put the money in your account in an hour.”
“What about Kylen?” Alcee whispered to Genevra.
“Who?” Genevra asked with a snort and walked up to Karolos and extended her hand. “Deal. Fifty million. You get my virginity on our wedding night. I’ll pop out a kid. You’re hot. I might even let you
you have a second one. I like kids. You should take me to dinner though.”
