Chapter 185
Alcee tried to listen to Lorita, but she was suddenly mesmerized by the way Torq’s fingers were making slow circles in the palms of her hands.
She looked at Antero who was now laying flat out on the floor with Avalanche on his chest and then her eyes swerved to Bastiano and Tito who were standing behind Torq. Her gaze moved to Amal and Susana, and she needed to admit, the four of their friends standing at the altar were far more into the words Lorita was reading than she was able to pretend to be.
When Lorita finished and returned back to her seat, the priest looked at Torq, “may I?”
“Please. In fact, I’d be happy if you skipped right to the kissing part. I do want to kiss my bride.”
“The vows first son,” Cicciu shook his head. “This is why we can’t have nice things, Brunella. He’s always in a rush.”
“Actually, Father, before you start,” Torq cut the man off again, “there is something I need to say.”
“By all means,” the man waved at him as if the entire thing was a spectacle.
“Torq,” Brunella started but he held up his hand.
“No. We could have written our own vows, but I knew Alcee would hate to stand up here in front of everyone pouring her heart out and making her feel like she was on display. I couldn’t do it to her but, there are things on my heart, I need to say here and now, in front of God and man in this house where I will be held accountable to my words.”
“Torq,” she whispered as she felt the stares of the congregation.
“I love you.” He said it bluntly, effortlessly. “Six years ago, you popped onto my internet browser, and I was hooked. We chatted for several days ahead of our meeting and when I met you, I knew, in here,” he tapped his chest, “there would be no other. You are it for me, Alcee. From the minute you stepped into my life until this current moment and for all the moments to come, you are it for me. There will be no other. I am going to screw up, it’s a given. I’m going to piss you off so badly, I’m sure I’ll bear bullet holes and stab wounds from the rage you end up feeling. I’m probably going to drive you insane with my demands, my jealousy, my pride and my arrogance. What I will never do, though, Alcee, is leave you.”
His words were making her throat feel thick and clogged. She blinked back tears.
“I will never leave you. I will never leave you thinking I don’t want you. I will never leave you thinking you are not loved. I will never leave you thinking you are less than the incredible wife, mother, friend, lover, that you are. I will never leave you alone. You will never spend a night, Alcee where you wonder if you are enough or if you are worthy of my love because I intend to make you feel it every second of every minute of every hour. There will be times we are apart, it is for sure, but I will never leave you. No matter how hard it gets or how rough the road becomes, you are my wife, my love, my woman and I will never leave you. I love you, Alcee. I’m not going anywhere.”
She felt the tears on her cheeks, and she sniffed loudly and then flung herself at him, smashing her face into his chest, narrowly missing the boutonniere at his lapel, I love you.”
“I know baby,” he laughed and hugged her tight, kissing the top of her head.
“I don’t know about anyone else, but I like his words more than the vows.” Tito drew attention to himself away from Alcee,
“Me too.” Amal said with a glint in her eye. “You will give me equally meaningful words at our wedding, Tito.”
“Yes ma’am.”
Alore accepted the tissue Amal shoved into her hand and then looked at Torq again. “I love you, I hate all eyes on me, it is for sure, but I’m not embarrassed by loving you. I would happily stand on the steeple of this church and tell the world I love you. I’m not easy to get along with. I’m a mama beat through and through and I take no prisoners when it comes to our son. We’re going to fight and butt heads over everything. I won’t leave you either, Torq. I’ll fight with you, beside you, behind you, I’ll fight for us, for our family, for what is important to us. I’ll stand at your side forever because it is where I belong. I belong with you, Torg. I knew it the moment we met all those years ago and I know it now standing in fspnt of you. You are my love?
She closed her eyes as he rested his forehead to hers, his back hunched over as he breathed her in.
She felt him wave at the priest.
The man began to speak.

Chapter 185
“Torquato and Alcee, have you come here to enter into marriage without coercion, freely and wholeheartedly?”
She and Torq stood with their heads together, eyes closed as they both spoke clearly, “I have.”
“Are you prepared, as you follow the path of marriage, to love and honor each other for as long as you both shall live?”
“I am.”
“Are you prepared to accept children lovingly from God and to bring them up according to the law of Christ and his Church?”
“I am.”
“Torquato, repeat after me,” the priest spoke seriously and began to recite for Torq the vows.
“I, Torquato Gervasio Bruno Lozano, take you, Alcee Fina, Mariani to be my wife. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.”
Then it was Alcee’s turn, and she choked on her emotions as she recited the words back to Torq.
