Sebastian's fists were tightly clenched as he furrowed his brows, "Who spilled the beans to you?"

"Don't get your knickers in a twist," Stephanie replied, "I'm not looking down on you or anything... it just makes me feel sorry for you..."

"Stephanie!" Sebastian spat out her name through gritted teeth.

Stephanie looked confused, "Did I say something wrong?"

Seeing her like this made Sebastian's heart ache.

He took a deep breath, "From now on, don't believe anyone unless the words come straight from me."

"Is it all a bunch of baloney?" Stephanie questioned.

"Who told you all this?" Sebastian asked.

"Jeffrey Perez."

A mocking glint passed through Sebastian's eyes, "He sure knows a lot."

"So, is it true or not?" Stephanie pressed.

Sebastian answered, "Yesterday was my birthday... but it wasn't the anniversary of my father's death or my aunt and uncle's wedding..."

"Jeffrey lied to me! I've been heartbroken for nothing! That's low!" Stephanie fumed.

Sebastian was curious, "Why were you heartbroken?"

"I just felt sorry for you... I thought there's no one more pitiful in the world than you," Stephanie explained.

Sebastian chuckled, "There are plenty of pitiful people in this world... I don't see myself as one of them."

"But... I only feel sorry for you, not anyone else..." Stephanie responded.

Stephanie laughed, "He still hasn't given up! You can't tell him my teacher's address."

"I don't know it," Sebastian replied.

"Right, you don't know it either... But why didn't you tell me that I spilled everything to Jeffrey when I was drunk?"

"I was waiting for you to realize it... Wouldn't you be more upset if you knew?"

"Seriously... Are you pulling my leg, watching me get all worked up? I've been beating myself up over last night, I almost missed your birthday!"

"Is a birthday... that important?"

"Of course it is, it only comes once a year! If we missed this year, we'll have to wait until next year. Who knows if we'll still be together by then!"

Hearing this, Sebastian asked somewhat unhappily, "Why wouldn't we be together?"
