Everyone leaps into action.

“Another murder?” Reuben asks.

I turn to look at him, making sure he sees how serious I am. “Keep that quiet.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

“Dr. Charles is on his way, Christian. What else do you need me to do?” Enya asks.

“I’m not sure yet. Help my mother for now but I may need you.”

“Let me know what you need,” she says as Shane and my father come out of their rooms dressed and ready to go.

“Let’s go,” I say to Reuben. “Who was on duty overnight?” I ask as we walk.

“Judith and Gabriel, Alpha,” he says. I recall Judith being a warrior who I felt I could trust. It’s why I scheduled her with Gabriel. Dammit.

‘Enya, wake Judith and Gabriel. Take them to separate conference

rooms and tell them to wait for me. Put warriors on them to make sure they stay put,‘ I say.

‘I'

‘Will do.‘

“Are there always two warriors on duty at once?” my father asks.

“Usually, but it depends on how many people are in the cells. Right now, we have three on duty during the day since we have more people than usual in the cells,” he says as we descend the stairs.

When we get to the cells, Dr. Charles is waiting for us.

“Alpha Enya said it was urgent, Alpha,” he says.

“That’s right. I have a dead prisoner. I need to know how she died, and I need to know now,” I tell him.
