Chapter 21: Charlotte’s POV

I wait until everyone has left and gone to bed to call for a favor.

“Hello?” I hear a husky man on the other line.

“It’s Charlotte. I have a favor to ask.” I say flatly.

“I don’t do favors. What do you want?” He says annoyed.

“Let me make myself clear, I have a little job for you. I have money and you’ll be compensated well. You’d be stupid to refuse.” I hear a husky coarse laugh on the other end.

“Then I’d have no choice but to accept. Who is it?” It’s more like it.

“Well you remember Leonardo. The person you were supposed to hit last time. Although you failed and got me instead.”

“I was told that was forgiven. Your father made clear that I had done enough.”

“Yes, I’ve made peace with that after him informing me. But this time – I need a little accident to happen to his wife.” I say wife with a hiss. I had never acknowledged her title until now and only to entail the specifics.

“Ah. How much of an accident are we talking?”

“She’s pregnant. I just need you to make sure she isn’t anymore.” I file my nails with the phone to my ear as I wait for his response.

“No death?” He seemed amused at my request.

“Oh and one more thing – you do it tomorrow. I’ll send you her photo and any information you need.”

“You got it.”

hear the line disconnect and feel content. With no baby, Claire would be nothing more than a memory after I “can walk again“. She’s already halfway out of the door – I’ll just offer the last push. Soon enough, Leo will be at my side indefinitely.

I think back to what that mindless neanderthal mentioned.

The accident. Although it was no accident.
