On Monday, Celeste went to work as usual.

With the high volume of work, she continued running between Velotra and YodaVision.

On Tuesday evening, while getting off work and standing in the elevator, Celeste glanced at the date on her phone and lowered her gaze.

Having worked all day, Matthias was exhausted too.

He suddenly had a hunch and asked, "Tomorrow should be the last day of the cooling-off period, right?"

Celeste put her phone back into her bag and replied, "Yes."

After all these years between her and Trevor, they were finally about to end things for good.

Matthias wasn't sure if he should feel happy for her or sad.

Though he had nothing but resentment toward Trevor, thinking of how Celeste had loved him for so many years, only to end up like this, he couldn't help but feel a little sympathy for her.

Still, no matter how hard something was, there would be a day when it ended.

Once the divorce was finalized, Celeste would finally be able to truly start over.

Thinking this, he patted her shoulder comfortingly but didn't say much.

The next morning, after her run and breakfast, Celeste returned to the office and was just about to start work when her phone rang.

It was a call from Trevor.

They had agreed earlier that on the first day after the cooling-off period ended, they would officially register the divorce.

So, it was only natural that Trevor would call.

She answered, "Hello."

Before he could say anything, she said, "I'll be there on time at nine in the morning tomorrow—"

Trevor interrupted her, "I'm currently overseas on a business trip."

Celeste paused. Before she could say anything, he added, "I probably won't be able to make it back for a few more days. We might need to delay registering the divorce."

Celeste furrowed her brows and stayed silent.

Sensing her displeasure, Trevor apologized, "I'm sorry. This was my fault."

Celeste took a deep breath. After a brief pause, she finally said, "Got it."

Without waiting for him to speak again, she ended the call.

She rubbed her forehead, trying to steady her emotions, but her phone rang again almost immediately.

This time, it wasn't from Trevor. It was Caleb.

Celeste frowned deeper.

Celeste cut him off and said bluntly, "That was the plan, but it's been postponed."

Caleb's smile froze. After two seconds, he asked, "Can I ask why? Was it your decision, or his—"

"He went abroad on a business trip. He won't be back in time tomorrow."

"So, once he's back, you'll go finalize it right away?"

"...Yes."

That was good.

Caleb thought to himself that hopefully, by the time he had vacation, they would have already officially divorced.

Though he didn't say that out loud.

At that moment, Celeste said, "Mr. Jennings, I actually picked up your call because I wanted to—"

But he interrupted her. "I know. You're going to tell me that answering my call doesn't mean you're interested, and that you only answered out of politeness and maybe to gently turn me down again. I know."

"You—"

"I know," Caleb said with a light laugh. He found her honesty rather endearing. "But my stance won't change."

Then he added, "I don't have much time now. Once I'm done with everything, I'll come find you for a meal. See you soon."

Without waiting for a reply, he hung up.
