“Yes,” Quinn said. “After the border fire five years ago, my brother was spotted in Doria, so I need to go and see whether any trail remains.”

Though half a decade had passed and Rowan might be long gone, she could not stay home and wonder.

The four friends froze, heads snapping toward the open door of the private room.
