"Nowhere?" Murray's cigar, unlit, snapped under the pressure of his fingers.

The secretary lowered his head. "Yes, I didn't even catch a glimpse of James's assistant."

Murray sat there, his expression a puzzle. After a moment, he tossed the broken cigar aside. "James is always a wildcard, even ignoring calls from the royal family. Not surprising he wouldn't see me."

If James wouldn't see Murray, he definitely wasn't going to see Carter.

"So, what do we do now?" the secretary asked, carefully watching Murray.

Murray got up, clearly done with waiting for the trade meeting to wrap up. With a cool demeanor, he headed for the door.

They made their way to the first floor in no time, and as they stepped out of the lobby, the driver already had the car ready.

The secretary opened the car door, and just as Murray was about to get in, he caught sight of a group coming out from a nearby entrance. He paused instinctively.

The secretary followed the Count's line of sight. "That must be James, right?"

The secretary had never seen the elusive head of the weapons bureau, nor had many others with high status. His guess came from recognizing Wyatt by James's side.

Murray nodded. "That's right."

The secretary quickly averted his eyes, not wanting to stare. "Should we go over and say hello?"

Murray's eyes lingered on Mirabella for a moment, instantly recognizing her as the girl he'd seen earlier in the exclusive suite. After a brief pause, he said, "No need."
