Nicolle arched an eyebrow as he listened.

“Forgot to end the livestream?” A knowing, almost amused smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

He’d met Stella before. He knew perfectly well—forgetting to turn off a livestream wasn’t like her at all.

Inwardly, he thought, Looks like she’s really been pushed to the edge. Maybe this was the only way she could expose what’s happening.

With that in mind, Nicolle turned to his assistant. “Where’s Antoney?”

“Mr. Watson is currently in a meeting,” the assistant replied.

“Send word. Tell them to pause the meeting and have Antoney come see me,” Nicolle said.

The assistant’s surprise showed on her face. Was this gossip really so important? Important enough to interrupt a board meeting? But despite her doubts, she nodded and left to deliver the message.

It wasn’t long before Antoney arrived.

“Father, you wanted to see me?”

Nicolle gestured to the television mounted on the wall. “Come, listen to this.”

Antoney immediately recognized Stella’s voice. His expression shifted. “That’s Star!”

When the recording ended, Antoney shot up from the sofa.

He went on, “Haynes and Neville might be able to help her a little, but—” he trailed off, a flicker of sarcasm in his eyes.

Then Nicolle’s tone shifted. “Do you know why Skyler was so eager to bring Stella back?”

Antoney frowned. “For her shares?”

Nicolle nodded. “That’s part of it, yes. But the real reason is that as long as Skyler stayed in Novaris, Haynes and Neville could keep him in check. He couldn’t move freely. But back in Solmaris, it’s his own turf, and he can cut Stella off from her few remaining allies—leave her completely isolated.”

Nicolle’s voice grew somber. “Antoney, you know as well as I do—no matter how powerful Skyler is, he can’t handle everything alone. He’ll need support from all sides.”
