Meanwhile, Alyssa was leading Alex and Azrael through the dimly lit corridors of the prison. The eerie flicker of torches danced across the stone walls, casting long shadows that made the air feel heavier with every step.
Alyssa broke the silence, glancing at Alex. "Alex, I’ve contacted the person you told me about—but I didn’t speak with him directly, only with his secretary. Are you sure someone like him will come for you?"
Alex chuckled lightly, his expression calm yet confident. "Don’t worry. He’ll come running. I just hope the message reaches him."
Azrael, visibly tense, clenched his fists. "And if it doesn’t?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.
Alex turned his head sharply, his lips curling into a devilish grin. He pointed toward a wall where dozens of severed heads hung like grotesque trophies. "Then your head will be up there too, giving those people some company."
A shiver ran down Azrael’s spine. ’What the hell went wrong with my life? I was this close to finishing off Bellatrix and taking her position. My name was feared across the demon realm—spoken with terror and awe.
And now here I am, stuck in a low-class world, weak as hell and worrying about keeping my damn head attached.’
Alex smirked, noticing the fear in Azrael’s eyes. "What’s wrong? Not excited about getting some new friends? Even if they’re dead—you do specialize in turning the dead into undead, don’t you?"
"Will you just shut your mouth for one minute, you bastard?!" Azrael screamed, his eyes burning with frustration.
Alex burst out laughing, the sound echoing loudly in the narrow hall. "You’re too easy to piss off."
Azrael growled. "It’s you! You’re the bad omen of my life. Ever since I met you, everything started going downhill, you ass-face bastard! If you hadn’t summoned me here, I would have killed that bitch Bellatrix—and all the other dukes one by one. But now I’m stuck worrying about my life!"
Before he could continue, Alex suddenly head-butted him. "What did you say about my face, you dead-ass bastard?"
"You heard me!"
"First of all, I didn’t know I was summoning a demon, you asshole. And second, I didn’t know I’d end up with someone as useless as you. You weakass bastard. You should be thanking me! If it weren’t for me, your head would already be hanging on that wall with your friends!"
Azrael was about to fire back when Alyssa’s exasperated voice cut through their argument. "We’re here! For god’s sake, stop your lovers’ quarrel. We’ve reached the main entrance of the palace."
Both Alex and Azrael turned to glare at her. Alyssa raised her hands defensively. "Alright, alright, my bad."
They followed her inside. The heavy doors creaked open to reveal a vast throne room filled with luminous energy. The air itself trembled under the sheer pressure of power that resided there.
At the center, Edward Evans Avaloria sat upon his throne—his mere presence radiating dominance and an unspoken authority that instantly demanded respect.
On smaller thrones beside him sat two others: Cian Aurelias on his left, his calm yet intimidating gaze fixed forward, and Liana Campbell, the Saintess of the Holy Empire, on his right—her divine aura shimmering like sunlight piercing through storm clouds.
As Alex and Azrael entered, whispers rippled through the nobles gathered inside. Disgust flickered across the faces of Cian, Liana, and the priests who had come from the Holy Empire.
