Since they made that agreement, she hadn’t talked to Chelsea in private again.

Chelsea smiled. “You’re sharp-I did come here just to find you. Shaun’s face has healed well, and we’re together now.”

They were together now?

Halsey had suspected that Chelsea might end up with him, but now that the moment was actually here, it still hit her like a punch to the chest.

It hurt badly.

Chelsea continued, “We’re really happy now. We’ll probably get married soon. I’m sure you’ll give us your blessings, won’t you?”

Halsey curled her fingers into her palm. Her nails dug into her skin, but she couldn’t even feel the pain. If that accident hadn’t happened… Maybe she and Shaun would’ve already been married by now.

Instead, Shaun was marrying Chelsea.

Halsey looked at Chelsea.

“You really think I’d bless your marriage?” She took a step closer. “Other people might not know the truth, but you and I both know exactly what dirty tricks you used to get close to Shaun. So stop pretending in front of me. I don’t even want to see you again.”

Chelsea stared at her back and let out a smug, venomous smile.

As Halsey walked out into the corridor, she spotted another familiar figure up ahead-Warren.

What was going on today? She was running into all the people she least wanted to see.

Warren noticed her as well. “Hey.”

Halsey turned to walk away.

But Warren kept talking. “Just don’t bother Shaun again. Let him and Chelsea live their life in peace.”

Halsey stopped and stood up straight. Her eyes were clear and bright as she looked at Warren.

“If that’s the whole reason you’re here, then let me tell you now I have no intention of chasing after Shaun. I sincerely wish them a happy wedding and lots of kids. Happy now?”

Right then, Warren looked up and said, “Oh, hey, Shaun.”

Halsey froze.

Slowly, she turned around and saw Shaun standing there, backlit by the light.

No one knew how long he had been there, but it was obvious that he had heard everything she and Warren had just said—especially the part where she wished him and Chelsea a happy marriage and many children.

Halsey went completely still.

Shaun’s cold, piercing eyes locked onto her face. The way he looked at her-icy and emotionless-made her feel like the air had frozen.

Even from that distance, Halsey could feel the chill radiating off of him.
