Chapter 999
Shaun’s face was clouded over with worry.
“Halsey? Halsey! Where are you?”
He took the stairs two at a time and pushed open the master bedroom door, but it was empty-no one was there.
“Halsey? Halsey!”
Warren followed behind, and his heart dropped to the floor. “She’s not home? Where could she have gone?”
He started to panic. “Her phone isn’t connecting either. She’s gone… Do you think something happened to her? Could it be…she was telling the truth?”
Shaun turned sharply to look at him. “What did Halsey say?”
Warren didn’t dare hide it any longer and came clean on the spot. “She said Chelsea’s teamed up with Gilbert, and they’re working together!”
“What?!” Shaun was stunned.
Warren kept going. “At first, I didn’t believe it. We’ve known Chelsea for so many years-how could she possibly work with Gilbert? She knows he’s our worst enemy! Could she really have contacted him? Did Gilbert take Ms. Mallin away, just like last time?”
Shaun grabbed Warren by the collar. “Last time? What last time?”
Warren said quickly, “Last time, Chelsea told me to invite Ms. Mallin out. Chelsea secretly drugged her drink, and I was sent away right after. Ms. Mallin told me that once I left, Chelsea and Gilbert brought her straight to the operating room and tried to make her lose the baby!”
“What?!” Shaun yanked Warren’s collar tighter. “You’re telling me last time it was you, Chelsea, and Gilbert working together?”
The time Halsey was almost forced into that abortion, he had rushed in just in time to stop it and take her away. Back then, he thought Halsey didn’t want the baby and had gone through with the abortion on purpose.
All along, he had misunderstood her.
She hadn’t done it willingly-she was set up!
“You’ve really let me down!” Shaun barked.
Livid, he threw a heavy punch straight to Warren’s face.
The hit landed hard. Warren stumbled to the floor, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. He wiped it away with the back
of his hand.
“I’m sorry! This is all my fault! I shouldn’t have trusted Chelsea. Looking back, she’s been suspicious all along! We have to go find Ms. Mallin right now. I’ve got a really bad feeling. If something happens to her or the baby, I’ll never live with myself!”
Warren truly regretted everything. Only now did he realize he may have trusted the wrong person.
Shaun clenched both fists at his sides. “Someone get in here!”
A team of bodyguards dressed in black rushed in. “Mr. Lane, your orders?”
“Find Halsey immediately!” Shaun barked. “I don’t care if you have to search every inch of the city-bring her and the baby back!”
Martin responded without hesitation, “Got it. We’ll start the search now!”
Shaun stormed out with his men.

“Wait for me!” Warren called, running after him.
At that moment, Halsey had been taken to a warehouse. Her hands and feet were bound tightly.
“Gilbert, let me go! This is illegal and you know it! Shaun will find me-he’ll be here any minute, and you’re not getting away with this!”
Gilbert stared at her coldly. “Too late. By the time he shows up, you’ll already be dead.”
He pulled out a knife and slowly began walking toward her.
