"No problem, it was my mistake."

The other person spoke softly, her voice soothing and gentle. As she bent down to pick up the spilled milk powder, their eyes met.

Sophia paused for a moment.

The girl across from her furrowed her brows slightly. "Is something wrong?"

Sophia offered an apologetic smile. "No, it's just that you look a lot like a friend of mine. I got a bit confused for a second."

The girl smiled, understanding.

"People often say I look like someone they know. I guess I have one of those faces."

Her voice was still as smooth and calming as a lullaby. With that, she picked up the milk powder, nodded politely to Sophia, and headed to the checkout counter.

Sophia's gaze involuntarily followed her.

The girl was paying for her groceries, her demeanor serene and composed, radiating a comforting aura.

Sophia had seen that face recently.

It was in the dossier Kent had shown her about Arlene. Kent had mentioned that Harvey Ferber was looking for her, and so was Brandon.

Brandon had later explained that it was because Arlene was Harvey Ferber's weakness. Since he and Harvey were business competitors, Brandon wanted leverage.

Sophia found that explanation hard to swallow.

From what she had gathered in her interactions with Brandon, he seemed like an upright guy, not one to use a woman to blackmail another man.

The way he and Kent had played off each other that day felt more like they were covering something up.

But the deeper reasons behind it were beyond her reach.

The fact that Brandon was also searching for Arlene bothered her more than Harvey Ferber's interest in her.

She held her phone, her thumb brushing the screen as she pondered whether to call Brandon, feeling hesitant.

The young woman had finished paying and was about to leave.

Sophia hesitated for a moment and called out, "Arlene."

Yet, the girl showed no hesitation in her steps, seemingly unaware that Sophia was addressing her, indifferent to the name.

Sophia frowned, puzzled. Normally, people would react to their names unless, like her, they had forgotten their past, or she had simply mistaken her.

The young woman continued without pause, exiting through the rear door of the baby store.

Sophia watched as her figure gradually disappeared from sight, standing still, her brows still furrowed.

"What's up?"

Brandon's voice suddenly broke the silence.

Sophia turned to see him entering with Theresa in his arms.

"What brings you guys here?" she asked, moving towards the shelf with baby formula.
