Chapter 224

Yorick

My hands clench into fists. You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. This tool? This is the man who thinks he’s going to take what’s mine?

“I told you ! was going to come visit you, Cyra. Imagine my surprise when you weren’t home. I figured you were out. But you were so adamant when we talked about how busy you’ve been with your studies that I assumed you’d be back any minute. So, I waited.” He glanced at her, but obviously realizing that we’ve been together all night, his eyes returned to me.

“We got caught in the rain,” she says.

“Right,” he says, his tone indicating his disbelief.

Cyra turns and looks at me, her eyes pleading with me not to start anything.

“I need to shower,” I tell her, walking past her.

The tool steps in my way. “I’m Alpha Stellan.”

“Yeah, I heard. I’m Alpha Yorick,” I say, stepping around him and walking to the showers.

“I’m Cyra’s betrothed,” he calls out, and I spin around, Thad pushing forward. Before I can take a step, Cyra is between us, her hand on my chest.

“I’m her fated mate. So if you want you to go, Stellan, let’s have a go,” I snarl.

“Yorick, go shower,” she says softly.

I glare at the man, while Thad thrashes around in my head trying to get to him. He just smirks at me like he’s already won. Shit, I’ll get my family to attack his pack just because he thinks he can take what’s mine. And then I’ll wipe that smug grin off his face.

“Yorick, please,” she says. I pull my eyes away from him and look at her.

‘Please,‘ she mouths.

I tear myself away and go into my room, getting my clothes before stomping down the hallway to the showers.

“Here Stellan, come into my room. I need to shower too,” I hear Cyła say.

“What the fuck is with all the flowers, Cyra?” he asks when she opens her door. Good, let him see that one of us knows how to take care of her.

I don’t wait to hear her response as I push through the doors to the bathroom and go to the shower stalls.

strip off my clothes and stand under the water. I close my eyes and punch the wall, leaving a hold in it.

‘We should kill him now. He cannot have our mate,’ Thad snarls in my head.

‘No, he can’t,‘ I snarl back, just as I feel her hand on my back.

I spin, pressing her against the opposite wall of the small shower, my hand around her throat.

“Cyra, I’m warning you now, if he touches any part of your body with any part of his, I swear to the Moon Goddess that he will not make it off this campus alive. I don’t care what hellfire comes raining down on me, I will not be able to hold Thad back,” I growl.

“You know I was never with any other man before you, Yorick,” she says. I can see the pain in her eyes. She doesn’t want him here any more than I do.

I slide my hand down her shoulder and press my forehead to hers.

“I didn’t know he’d be here. He mentioned it before I left, but he never confirmed that he was coming,” she whispers, and I can hear the tear in her vold

I pull her against me. “If he tells you he wants out of this agreement, you say yes. Whatever happens, I’ll get my family involved, I say

She shakes her head, but I hold her against me.

“Yes, Cyra. I will call my family to war if that’s what it takes.”

“You can’t, Yorick…”

“I can and I will. He may lead a powerful pack, Cyra, but so do my brother and my brother–in–law.”

“Yorick…”

I press my finger to her lips. “If he wants out, say yes. We’ll deal with anything else that happens.”

She nods. “I need to get back.”

I spin her around and push her under the water. She’s started to shiver and I know it’s not from the cold. I grab the shampoo that’s in her bag and begin to wash her hair.

“Come see me as soon as he’s gone. He’s not planning to stay is he?” rask, looking at her.

“I doubt it. It was impossible not to smell your scent in my room, Yorick.”

“Will he hurt you?” I ask her.

“No. He would never lay a hand on me.”

“Okay. If at any time you feel unsafe, you get to me. I can’t go to my room. I can’t risk hearing the two of you in your room while Thad is like this. But I’ll be outside. If he does anything…”

“I’ll be fine, Yorick.”

She finishes bathing and leaves. I don’t want to, but I let her go.

I stand under the water for a few moments longer before washing off the sweat, grass, and dirt of the night. Then I dry off, get dressed, and walk back to my room, quickly dropping off my things before making my way outside. As I pass her door, I hear voices murmuring on the other side, but I don’t stay to hear what’s being said.

I go sit outside, putting my head in my hands and doing everything I can to keep Thad from breaking through and ripping Stellan apart.

I have no idea how long I sit there when I hear the door behind me open. It’s not the first time as some of the folks who weren’t out partying all night are up and moving around. But for the most part, the Academy is quiet. So, I turn and my entire body goes rigid when I see Stellan walking out.

He walks to the top of the stairs where I’m sitting. He doesn’t look at me, he looks out as if assessing the Academy grounds.

“I get it. I do. I understand your desire to be with your fated mate,” he says.

“You couldn’t possibly,” I growl.

He turns and looks at me. “Why do you think I agreed to let Cyra come here for a year. I have my own fated mate back home…out Cyra, I’m free to do what I want, just as she is free to do what she wants while she’s here.”

“Then why not end this alliance bond? Take your fated mate as your Luna and be done with this?” I ask him.

He stares at me for a moment and then a wicked smile spreads across her face.

“She hasn’t told you,” he says and begins laughing. “Oh, that’s rich.”
