“What, you don’t believe me?” Katrina wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned up to give him a kiss. “Do you believe me now?”

An indeterminate amount of time later, the storm in Ivy’s world subsided. Exhausted and unwilling to move, she murmured to the man beside her, “Can you get my phone for me…?”

Jamison was about to get up to clean anyway. He went out and retrieved her phone.

The screen had long since gone dark. Ivy, still catching her breath, unlocked it to check her messages.

Her eyes widened.

[Mrs. Ludwig, don’t tell me you got busy in bed mid-conversation?]

[Hmph. Friends are less important than lovers.]

Ivy’s cheeks burned. She quickly rolled onto her side and typed a reply: *No, I went to take a shower.*

Then she added: *Didn’t you say Mr. Wilson was coming back from his trip today? How do you have so much free time tonight?*

There was no response for a while. Ivy suddenly understood. A cool smile touched her lips as she typed: *Don’t tell me you’re busy in bed right now too?*

She followed it with a winking, suggestive emoji.

Katrina was, in fact, quite busy. But the incessant “ding-dong” of her phone was distracting. She reached for it, but Naylor grabbed her hand and pulled it back, lacing their fingers together. “Focus,” he warned, his voice low. “Don’t make me get rough.”

Katrina glared at him, about to curse, but he silenced her with another deep, demanding kiss…

The next morning, Ivy, with no pressing need to go back to school, made sure Jamison fasted and went to the hospital for his physical.

Unable to refuse his wife’s persistence, Jamison informed his department and headed to the check-up center upon arriving at the hospital.

“Alright, I’m going for my physical. You can have the driver take you to school now,” Jamison said with resigned finality as he walked into the center.

Ivy nodded. “You go ahead. A full physical, especially… you know… that area. I’m not in a rush. I’ll wait with you.”

“You’re going to supervise me? What happened to the trust between us?”
