Marcus Davis stormed in, his voice booming before he even entered the room.

“Thank goodness you’re here, honey. If you’d been any later, they would’ve scared Waytt and me to death.” Amanda rushed into Marcus’s arms, fake tears streaming down her face.

“What?” Marcus’s voice got louder, his anger rising as he scanned the room, looking for whoever dared to bully his wife and son.

Having been insulted by Marcus’s wife, Brian put on a long face. He was already planning to let the company’s legal team handle this mess.

The next second, Marcus saw Brian, and his eyes bulged in an instant. “Mr. Atkinson?”

Marcus looked around the room in confusion. Aside from his wife and son, there was only a little boy standing next to Brian. It was obvious that Brian’s son was the one who fought with his son.

“You know me?” Brian’s expression was as cold as ever, and the stern vibe he exuded made it hard for Marcus to keep his arrogance like he did just

now.

Marcus’s face drained of color, and he slapped himself hard. “Mr. Atkinson, I’m the head of the channel project team, working on the 7th floor.”

He thought with panic, ‘How could this be Mr. Atkinson’s son?‘

Amanda still planned to exaggerate the situation, but hearing her husband address Brian as Mr. Atkinson, she finally realized this man was Marcus’s

boss.

Realizing her mistake, Amanda’s face also went pale. “Mr. Atkinson, I… I didn’t recognize you earlier. It’s all my fault. This is just a misunderstanding.”

She shoved Waytt forward and added, “It’s just a small squabble between kids, you know? Kids always fight, right? Waytt and Jacob are… classmates. That’s great.”

“Oh?” Brian didn’t respond to Amanda’s attempt at damage control.

Earlier, when she shouted loudly, Brian ignored her. Now, seeing her groveling, he did the same. He didn’t even spare her a glance.

Brian grabbed Jacob’s hand and started walking out. His sharp voice floated in the air. “You’re officially fired. HR will notify you.”

“Mr. Atkinson, please don’t. I see my mistake. I’ll make my wife and son apologize.” Marcus, now looking even paler, yanked Amanda and Waytt along, desperate to apologize.

He begged, “Mr. Atkinson, Mr. Jacob Atkinson, we’re terribly sorry. Please give us another chance.”

Amanda couldn’t believe things would end up like this. Not only had her husband failed to defend them, but now he was about to lose his high- paying and prestigious job.

Failing to get Brian’s forgiveness, Marcus raised his hand and slapped his son hard. “That’s what you get for bullying other kids. Get over there and apologize.”

He then kicked Waytt in the backside, pushing him toward Jacob to apologize.

Jacob looked at Brian, clearly not wanting to forgive Waytt.

Brian frowned, knowing this was Marcus’s attempt to get their forgiveness. That trick didn’t work for him, and he snapped, “Don’t make me involve the company’s legal team to handle this.”

“I… I…” Marcus, realizing he wasn’t getting anywhere, bit his lip in frustration.

By the time he gathered himself to apologize again, Brian and Jacob were already back in the car.

Soon, Marcus received an email from HR.

“I’m screwed.” He slumped down on the floor after reading the email.

In the car, Brian looked at Jacob, who kept his head down, and spoke up, “Didn’t I tell you not to lose your temper? How could you hit your

classmate?”
