“Any group wants to go first?” Raymond asked.

Connor quietly pulled Sabrina back a step, then leaned close to her car, and whispered, “Sabrina, did you remember everything I just told you?”

He had a pretty good idea of how little tacit understanding he and Sabrina usually had. So he wasn’t getting. his hopes up. He’d just done all he could to prepare in advance.

“Yes. If you don’t believe me, let’s go first. That way, you’ll stop going on about it,” Sabrina said impatiently.

In reality, most of her attention earlier had been on watching the other groups answer questions. She hadn’t really paid attention to what Connor had said.

“Maybe we should wait a bit longer,” Connor said, playing it safe.

“Whatever.” Sabrina wasn’t even that interested in shopping on the trip. As far as she was concerned, the travel fund just needed to cover transport and meals. So she couldn’t care less about this little activity.

Vanessa glanced at the two whispering beside her. After hesitating for a second, she raised her hand. “I don’t think Sabrina and Connor are ready yet, so Spencer and I will go first.”

“Whatever Vanessa wants,” Spencer chimed in. As he spoke, he squeezed Vanessa’s hand, putting on the perfect act of a good husband.

This made Jessica and the others, who’d seen the two arguing last night, wear somewhat awkward expressions.

“Alright, then please take your positions.” Raymond waved them to stand up and started the questions.

He asked, “First question. What’s your wedding anniversary?”

It was basically a free point. Vanessa and Spencer both answered quickly, silently relieved. They thought, ‘So the questions for us aren’t that hard.’

But it turned out they’d relaxed too soon.

The second question asked for Vanessa’s least favorite fruit, and Spencer got it wrong.

Viewers in the live chat watched as Vanessa wrote “pear” and Spencer wrote “mango” on the other board. Thinking back to how Spencer kept feeding Vanessa pears during last night’s card game, they immediately started flooding the chat with boos.

“Twelfth question. What are your in–laws‘ birthdays?” Raymond asked.

As soon as the question came out, Vanessa and Spencer froze.

Raymond noticed they weren’t writing and reminded them, “Please answer within one minute.”

Vanessa bit her lip, picked up the marker, and scribbled a rough date on the board. Spencer did the same.

Raymond checked their answers and glanced at the correct ones he’d gotten beforehand. Shaking his head regretfully, he said, “Sorry, but both of you got it wrong.”

Vanessa and Spencer exchanged a look, both looking pretty gloomy.

But the quiz had to go on. They bit back the swear words on the tip of their tongues, turned around, and waited for the next question.

However, the following questions only got trickier, and their answers grew more forced.

When all the questions were done and the score was tallied, they’d only managed 210 points–barely a passing grade.

“Congratulations. Here’s your travel fund for today. Please take it.” Raymond offered his usual congratulations, but both thought it sounded insincere.

“Thank you, Raymond.” Vanessa forced a smile, said thanks, took the envelope, and walked off.

Spencer gave Raymond an awkward smile and hurried after her. He was determined to keep up his “perfect husband” act to the end.

That left only Sabrina and Connor. Even if Connor was still worried, he had no choice but to step forward. And as it turned out, his worries were spot on.

Raymond fired off several questions in a row, and Sabrina got them all wrong. Later, the crew noticed the two didn’t know each other well, or rather, Sabrina just didn’t know Connor well enough.

Wanting to save the guests from too much embarrassment, the crew switched to different questions on the spot, ones about their feelings, such as who fell for the other first, what they loved most about each other, that sort of thing.

On the other hand, it was plain to see from Connor’s answers how serious he was about this relationship.

After the last question, Connor’s face looked awful.

Sabrina just put down her marker like it didn’t matter, turned to Raymond, and said, “Announce the score. I’m in a hurry to head out.”

She thought, ‘If we waste any more time, we’ll be leaving just in time to find a restaurant for lunch!

Raymond looked at Sabrina, then at Connor, who was sulking off to the side. He cleared his throat. “Ahem, after our assessment, your score is 140. There’s room for improvement.”

“Only 140? I thought I answered quite a few,” Sabrina couldn’t help saying. She thought she’d put real effort into it.

Raymond’s practiced smile nearly slipped. He couldn’t help asking Sabrina tentatively, “Ms. Benson, isn’t there anything you’d like to say to Mr. Maddox right now?”

He thought, ‘Maybe say something to cheer Connor up?‘

“Say what? Are there extra questions? The other couples didn’t have any,” Sabrina asked, looking confused. The thought of cheering Connor up hadn’t even crossed her mind.
