Alexander was a big name now. With Millie’s current status, she wasn’t exactly on equal footing with him.

And here she was, actually thinking about asking Alexander for help—asking him to work for her, no less.

Liam couldn’t resist teasing her. “What did you just say? You want Alex to work for you?”

“Why not?” Millie laughed, her eyes turning up as she glanced at Alexander. “We grew up together, didn’t we? Helping out an old friend shouldn’t be a problem.”

Alexander leaned back in his chair, cool and reserved, a faint, distant smile on his lips. “If I can find the time, sure.”

Millie grinned. “Knew I could count on you.”

“But honestly, just hearing you say that is enough for me. I know you stepped away from all this after your mentor passed away—I’d never try to push you.”

At the mention of his mentor, a fleeting shadow crossed Alexander’s face, but his expression barely changed.

“Anyway, enough about that.” Millie waved her hand. “Let’s go eat. We can talk over the project proposal too. I’ve already got my team working on the data.”

Once this project was up and running, it would leave the competition in the dust.

All that was left was to build the prototype and host an investor summit.

Then, all her previous losses would finally start to turn around.

She was teaming up with her mother’s company, Intellectech, to develop an AI patrol drone. It would come equipped with thermal imaging and could instantly transmit data back to HQ.

On top of that, the entire device could blend seamlessly into its surroundings, running almost silently.

It could slip by unnoticed, right under the enemy’s nose.
