Chapter 457
Brian and Jake hurried after her. Fortunately, Jessica didn’t actually storm off in anger. Instead, she walked into the school building with a blank expression, handed Jake over to his homeroom teacher, and said her goodbyes before leaving.
“Wait, Jake’s mom! You didn’t leave your contact information,” the teacher called out from behind her.
Jake belongs to Brian now, so Brian should be their only contact. What’s the point of keeping my number?‘ Jessica thought.
That was the reality of the situation, but Jessica couldn’t really remain completely unaffected by it. She blinked hard, trying to fight back the sudden sting in her eyes and stop herself from overthinking everything. ‘This is just how it has to be,‘ she thought.
“Jessica, wait for me!” Brian called out. He quickly gave the teacher his contact information and chased after Jessica without looking back.
This left Jake with his teacher, sighing heavily. He knew this would happen.
Jessica had barely made it out of the school when Brian caught up to her. She yanked her hand away, trying to break free from his grip.
“Let go of me. Registration is over and I need to get back to the office,” she said firmly. She didn’t want to stay there for another second.
“I’ll drive you,” Brian said, scooping Jessica up in his arms without giving her a chance to refuse. The sudden lift off the ground made Jessica instinctively wrap her arms around his neck to keep from falling.
“Don’t worry. I won’t drop you,” Brian reassured her when he noticed the brief flash of fear in her eyes. He would rather drop himself than let anythine happen to Jessica and the babies.
Jessica stared at him with a blank expression. If he hadn’t suddenly picked her up like that, she wouldn’t have had to worry about falling in the first place.
Brian pretended not to notice her irritation and carried her silently to the passenger seat. He leaned over to buckle her seatbelt before stepping back,
The moment Jessica was free, she opened her mouth to make some sarcastic comment, but then decided it wasn’t worth the effort. She simply closed her eyes to rest instead.
Brian didn’t want to disturb her, so he quietly started the car and headed toward Grant Group. The atmosphere in the car grew tense until a message notification broke the silence.
Brian glanced at his phone instinctively, but when he saw no new messages, he realized the sound had come from Jessica’s phone.
He was about to mention it in case it was something work–related, but then he noticed Jessica had already opened her eyes and was looking at her phone. Her face had turned completely dark.
“Bad news?” Brian asked with concern.
When Jessica heard his question, she suddenly covered her mouth and started throwing up.
Brian slammed on the brakes and quickly grabbed the bag he’d prepared for her.
Jessica took it and immediately started throwing up violently into it.
Brian rubbed her back while pulling out wet wipes to clean her hands, and he kept trying to sneak a peek at her phone to see what message had
triggered this reaction.
Unfortunately, Jessica had her phone pressed firmly under her other hand, so he couldn’t see anything.
Jessica couldn’t stop vomiting. She threw up everything she’d eaten for breakfast and even started bringing up bile.
Brian’s heart ached watching her suffer. “Jessica, I’m taking you to the hospital.” This time it wasn’t a suggestion. It was a statement.

Chapter 457
Once Jessica felt a little better, he helped her sip some water, then turned the steering wheel and headed straight for the nearest hospital
“It’s not necessary. It’s just normal morning sickness. The hospital won’t be able to do anything,” Jessica protested.
Brian’s expression darkened and he didn’t say a word, keeping the steering wheel steady. He clearly had no intention of listening to her.
Jessica tried convincing again and again, but when she saw he was still being stubborn, she gave up.
