“What’s wrong?” Wesley still hadn’t caught on. They’d just gotten their food. ‘Why are we leaving already?‘ he wondered.

Jessica scanned the restaurant and noticed that plenty of customers were hunched over their phones. Given the whole spectacle Brian had just made during the livestream, it wasn’t hard to guess they were all looking her up.

“If we don’t get out of here now, you’ll be stuck watching me get mobbed,” Jessica said in a low voice.

The moment she finished speaking, someone at a nearby table let out a surprised gasp. “Oh my gosh, isn’t that Mrs. Atkinson? She looks so familiar!”

“You’re right! Is that really-”

Both women whipped their heads around to stare at Jessica. Jessica’s entire body went rigid. ‘What a complete disaster!‘ she thought.

Wesley immediately caught on and protectively guided Jessica toward the exit.

“Wow, I can’t believe I’m eating in the same restaurant as Mrs. Atkinson!” someone suddenly shouted.

The next second, everyone in the restaurant turned to look at Jessica. She instinctively pulled her hat brim lower and tried to leave with Wesley.

“Mrs. Atkinson, wait! You really are Mrs. Atkinson, right? Can I get your autograph? I’m such a huge fan of you and Mr. Atkinson,” one woman called out.

“Yeah, Mrs. Atkinson, can you sign something for me too? I love you and Mr. Atkinson so much! By the way, how come you didn’t go to the press conference today? Did Mr. Atkinson not want you to go?”

“Of course he didn’t let her go. Can’t you see Mrs. Atkinson is pregnant? She can’t go to crowded events like press conferences.”

“That guy with Mrs. Atkinson must be an assistant Mr. Atkinson arranged for her.”

“Mrs. Atkinson, can you tell us how you and Mr. Atkinson met?”

“Mrs. Atkinson, how far along are you in your pregnancy? Are you really still working?”

“Mrs. Atkinson…”

The excited crowd completely blocked her path. Jessica listened to them calling her “Mrs. Atkinson” over and over again, and it irritated her beyond belief. She instinctively pushed back against the people pressing closer to her. “Excuse me, let me through,” she said.

Wesley was busy holding back two other women who claimed to be devoted fans, preventing them from getting near Jessica. He didn’t notice what was happening on her side.

Jessica finally managed to push through the crowd in front of her and create a small gap. Just as she was about to catch her breath, someone shoved her

hard from behind. “Ah!”

“Watch out!” Wesley shouted.

The people in front of her instinctively stepped back when they saw Jessica falling toward them with a thud. By the time they realized they should help,

it was too late.

“Ah, my kids…” Jessica clutched her stomach in pain, feeling the wetness spreading beneath her. Her eyes instantly filled with tears.

“Jessica!” Wesley hadn’t expected this to happen. Without thinking, he shoved the people blocking his way aside, bent down, and scooped Jessica up in his arms before running toward the exit. “Someone call an ambulance!” he shouted as he ran.

The shocked crowd finally snapped back to reality and quickly pulled out their phones to call 911.

Madeline had successfully pushed Jessica down in the chaos and now blended perfectly into the crowd, watching the blood spreading across the floor
