Chapter 379

Once again, Sydney grasped what it truly meant to deal with a capitalist. Six billion? The interest alone

came to 12,000,000 a month.

‘Installments? Installments, my ass!’ She would be paying interest until the day she died.

Julian didn’t even blink. He nodded solemnly, as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world. “This doesn’t even count as overcharging. It’s all within the legal limit.”

He even had the gall to lecture her about it.

Sydney nearly choked. “So when does the interest start counting?”

His hand drifted lazily over her waist as he tossed the question back. “Depends. When do you plan on breaking the contract?”

She had walked right into his trap.

With a sharp inhale, Sydney gave up. “T-Then… let’s wait a little longer.”

At the very least, she needed to hold off until the drug reached the market. Once she had real money in hand, she could think about paying him back.

Julian leaned back and studied her with slow amusement. “And what about Caleb?”

“I only had a meal with him. Tiffany was there too.”

The contract only forbade intimate contact with Caleb. Sharing a meal didn’t count. She hadn’t broken any rules.

It had been a long time since Julian had seen her this obedient. Something in his chest stirred. He bent down and brushed her lips with his. “What did you eat?”

Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, but even that light kiss made Sydney’s body soften.

“Dinner,” she murmured, pushing him away and turning her face aside. “Yoyo’s still waiting for me. I need to take him out.”

‘Great. Now he turned it into a personal jab,’ she thought.

Sydney shot him a glare, but her attention drifted to two kids by the playground, happily eating ice cream. Lately, she’d been craving cold treats nonstop. Her gaze lingered, mouth watering.

By the time they reached the complex gate, she gave in. “Wait here a second. I’m going to buy an ice cream.”

“Ice cream?” Julian frowned. “Aren’t you on your period these days?”

Her heart skipped. She hadn’t expected him to remember something like that. Forcing a casual tone, she said, “I’ve been eating too many cold things lately, so it’s a bit late this time.”

Julian’s frown deepened. “And you still want more?”

He’d always known she was greedy when it came to food, but this was absurd.

Sydney touched her nose and shrugged. “Just one. And I already checked my own pulse. It’ll come soon.”
