“No one’s nice for no reason. Out with it—what do you want from me?”
Arthur came up behind Morris, watching him game for a bit. He stammered, “It’s just… we’re brothers, right? Brothers should stick together, share the good and the bad. So if you’re in trouble, I’m here to help.”
Morris shot him a look. “You think I’m in trouble?”
As far as Morris was concerned, he was the type to charge straight at any problem. Even if something was tough, he’d just find a way to beat it. There was nothing in this world he couldn’t handle. He didn’t need anyone’s help.
“Morris, you didn’t see what’s trending today, did you?”
Morris barely looked up. “I’m busy making money so I can get married. I don’t have time to care about whatever nonsense is blowing up online.”
“Morris, you can’t get married if you don’t have a fiancée. But yours… well, she might be about to run off with someone else.”
Morris stiffened, then spun around. “What are you talking about?”
“Just check today’s trending topics,” Arthur said.
Morris grabbed his phone, unlocked it, and the second he saw what was blowing up online, his jaw tightened and his whole face darkened.
Arthur could practically feel a chill in the air.
“Morris, don’t get mad. Seriously, with your looks and everything you’ve got going for you, you could have any woman you want. No need to tie yourself to just one tree when there’s a whole forest out there.”
Morris glared at him. “Arthur, my wife will only ever be Nathalie. If your sister-in-law heard you running your mouth like that, you wanna guess how she’d deal with you?”
Arthur muttered under his breath, “She’s just a girl. I don’t believe she could really take me down.”
Morris raised an eyebrow. “Still so stubborn, huh?”
Arthur grumbled, “Last time she snatched my project, it was only because she used your invention. If you didn’t help her, there’s no way she’d beat me.”
Morris thought for a moment. “Alright, let’s make a bet.”
