Lizzy had already loaded her suitcase into the car. When Nathalie and Morris pulled up at home, Lizzy came dashing over, buzzing with excitement.

“Sis, did you and the boss finally get your marriage certificate?”

Nathalie flashed the certificate, and Lizzy just about squealed. “This is amazing! My two favorite people are finally together.”

Ford and Dominick were just as thrilled, high-fiving each other. “Our favorite couple finally made it official!”

But Lincoln, spotting the packed car, looked a little down. “Well, there goes my little girl. She’s off to start her own life and leaving her old dad behind.”

Nathalie hugged him tight. “Dad, Nathan and I will always have a place for you. You’re welcome at our home anytime.”

That perked Lincoln right up. He hollered, “Lizzy, did you hear that? Go grab my suitcase, too!”

Jules tugged Lincoln’s arm. “Come on, have a little self-respect. Let the newlyweds enjoy their honeymoon. Don’t turn yourself into the third wheel.”

Lincoln shot him a glare. “Mind your own business.”

Jules just grinned. “Their honeymoon won’t last forever. They’ll be back before you know it. Just wait at home.”

Lizzy stayed put, not moving an inch.

Lincoln slumped on the curb, sulking.

Nathalie was busy helping Morris into the car, making sure he was comfortable. Then she turned to wave at everyone. “Dad, take care of yourself. I’ll be back before you know it.”

Lincoln couldn’t hold back. He rushed over again, fussing. “Nathan’s health isn’t great, so look after him, okay? Don’t tire yourselves out with too much sightseeing. If it gets chilly, make sure he’s bundled up. Make sure he eats well.”
