"Your Highness," Ryan said quickly as Dominick approached, "I brought Miss Moore to the hospital. She suddenly started feeling unwell, so I thought it would be better to bring her here directly instead of taking her back to the residence."
Dominick’s expression tightened with worry.
"Where is she?" he asked urgently.
"She’s in one of the ward rooms on the second floor," Ryan replied.
Dominick didn’t waste another moment.
"You stay here," he said as he began moving toward the elevators. "I’ll go to her."
The elevator ride felt unbearably slow. Dominick’s mind kept replaying the image of Jeniva’s bruised face.
The doors finally opened on the second floor.
He stepped out immediately and scanned the hallway before spotting a hospital compounder passing by with a tray of medical supplies.
"Excuse me," Dominick called, stopping him.
The man turned quickly, straightening when he recognized him.
"Do you know which ward room Jeniva Moore has been admitted to?" Dominick asked. His voice carried clear anxiety despite his attempt to remain composed.
"Room 210, Your Highness," the compounder replied respectfully.
"Thank you," Dominick said before moving swiftly down the corridor.
When he reached the door, he noticed someone standing outside.
"Nick!" Evan said, stepping toward him the moment he saw him arrive.
Dominick glanced briefly at the closed ward room door before looking back at him.
"What did the doctor say?" he asked, his voice tense with concern.
"They’re still examining her," Evan replied, glancing toward the closed ward room door.
Dominick exhaled slowly, though the tension in his body didn’t ease.
"I warned Jeniva against doing this," he said, frustration creeping into his voice. "But she asked me to trust her."
He ran a hand through his hair, trying to steady himself.
Evan understood exactly what he meant.
"Jeniva has always been stubborn when it comes to her work," he said calmly. "That’s just how she is."
After a brief pause, Evan asked, "How is AJ doing? I heard he was seriously wounded."
Dominick nodded grimly.
"He was stabbed with a silver dagger," he replied. "The wound was deep. He’s receiving treatment right now."
His expression hardened as he continued. "Xaris was stronger than anyone of us had expected. Is he being interrogated yet? I don’t want any mercy shown to him."
His teeth clenched slightly in irritation.
"The interrogation will start once he regains consciousness," Evan assured him.
Just then, a nurse stepped out of the ward room.
"Who is the guardian of Miss Moore?" she asked, looking between them. "The doctor would like to speak with them."
Dominick and Evan immediately entered the room.
Inside, the doctor was giving instructions to another nurse about the injections that needed to be administered. Jeniva lay on the hospital bed, unconscious but breathing steadily, her face pale with visible bruising along her cheek and neck.
Dominick stepped closer.
"I’m with Jeniva," he said. "Is she alright?"
The doctor turned, recognizing him instantly, and bowed respectfully.
"We have taken her blood samples," the doctor explained. "She fainted primarily due to exhaustion. The bruises on her body, especially around her face and neck, suggest that she was involved in a very intense fight."
He glanced briefly at the injuries before continuing.
"These marks may take a few days to fade. Omega skin is more delicate, so it takes longer to heal."
Dominick listened carefully, his gaze shifting briefly toward Jeniva.
The words stopped abruptly.
He realized what he had almost ’mate’.
Dominick drew in a slow breath, forcing himself to regain control before finishing the sentence.
"...my person."
Dominick’s gaze dropped slowly to Xaris’s hands, both of them bound tightly by the silver restraints. The cold metal links glinted under the harsh light of the interrogation room. His hand stopped over Xaris’s right one.
"You hurt Miss Moore with this hand," Dominick said.
Xaris stiffened as Dominick continued.
"As punishment, it will be cut off. Your wolf will be taken out from you. You should spend the rest of your life remembering the mistake you made."
Dominick then straightened and turned toward the interrogating officer standing nearby.
"Carry out the sentence."
The moment Xaris understood what had been decided, panic overtook him. He began thrashing violently against the chair, struggling against the silver shackles that bound him.
"Your Highness, please! I beg you!" he cried desperately.
But the more he struggled, the worse it became.
The silver restraints reacted to his violent movements, sending sharp jolts of painful energy through his body. Each surge made him convulse as the silver suppressed his alpha strength.
"Please! Have mercy!" he continued pleading, his voice cracking.
Dominick didn’t even look back.
"As you command, Your Highness," the officer said with a respectful bow, already signaling the guards to prepare.
Dominick looked back at Xaris. "Your gang traded the innocent omegas. The punishment for it should be something which would made you repent throughout your life, Xaris. Mercy isn’t an option for you anymore."
With that, Dominick stepped out of the interrogation room when the phone in his pocket rang. He answered and brought it to his ear,
"Nick, Jeniva is awake!"
