Rowena was startled and was about to scream when the man covered her mouth with his hand.

"Don't make a sound. It's me."

Rowena broke free and ran to the side while glaring at him. "Mr. Louis, you're behaving out of line. I'm your stepmother!"

The man looked like he was around 28 years old, and was dressed in luxurious robes. He was none other than Louis Lawson, the imperial chaplain's son.

Louis sneered. "Don't act all high and mighty in front of me. You're just my dad's mistress and nothing more than a plaything."

Rowena fumed, "Even so, I am still your father's woman. How dare you disrespect me?"

"I insist on being disrespectful. What are you going to do about it?" Louis said, pulling Rowena's slender waist into his arms.

"Let go of me!"

Rowena was both shocked and furious as she struggled with all her might.

Louis grinned and said, "Stop struggling now. You're younger than my sister, yet you spend your days serving my old man. It's such a waste. Let me take good care of you instead."

As he spoke, Louis' hands and mouth moved all over her, kissing and nibbling at her skin.

"Mr. Louis, let me go, or I'll call for help!" Rowena threatened when she realized she couldn't break free.

Louis smirked, "Where did those hickeys on your neck come from? As far as I know, my dad's been in seclusion these past few days. Don't tell me you did that to yourself."

Rowena broke into a cold sweat and quickly covered her neck.

"No point in covering it now. I've already seen it. You've got some nerve, messing around with another man behind my dad's back!" Louis scolded harshly.

Rowena's legs buckled in fear, and she dropped to her knees. "Mr. Louis, it's not what you think. I was assaulted. Please don't tell the imperial chaplain."

Rowena was terrified. If Caspian found out she had been defiled, he wouldn't keep her around anymore. He might even kill her.

"Assaulted? Who would dare do that?" Louis demanded.

"Anyway, stop changing the subject. You said you were assaulted. Who did it?" Louis asked.

"It was that bastard, Sebastian!" Rowena said through gritted teeth.

"Sebastian again. Now I'm really interested," Louis laughed coldly. "Take care of me tonight, and tomorrow morning I'll take you to get your revenge. I'll kill that guy and make sure he pays."

As he spoke, Louis picked Rowena up and carried her inside. Rowena's lips curled into a satisfied, scheming smile.

She had noticed that Caspian seemed wary of Sebastian and wasn't willing to act rashly. So, she decided to stir things up further.

If Sebastian ended up killing Louis, she was certain Caspian wouldn't sit back and ignore the death of his only son.

Of course, Rowena had another reason for setting up Louis.

He didn't respect her. Now that he knew she'd been defiled, she simply couldn't let him live.
