Sebastian replied, "Someone sent me a letter saying that Louis had come here and might try to harm you. I was worried, so I rushed over. Luckily, I made it in time."

Kaitlyn huffed, "We have nothing to do with each other. Why do you even care about me?"

"Even if it was just for one night, we were once together. How could I ignore someone trying to hurt you?" Sebastian said.

Kaitlyn showed a self-mocking smile and said, "That man you just dealt with is the son of the imperial chaplain. You've hit him, and he definitely won't let this go easily."

"I don't care who he is. If you hadn't stopped me earlier, I would've killed him right there," Sebastian retorted coldly.

"Sebastian, I know you're strong, but can you really be stronger than the imperial chaplain?" Kaitlyn asked.

"Maybe I can," Sebastian said, though he wasn't entirely sure. He hadn't fought Caspian before.

If the rumors were true and Caspian was only as powerful as elite grandmasters combined, then Sebastian was confident he could take him on.

Kaitlyn rolled her eyes. "Caspian Lawson is the strongest warrior in the Starfire Empire. How could you possibly be a match for him? Besides, he holds immense power and commands large forces.

"Provoking him is akin to courting death. You should leave as soon as possible, the farther the better."

"If I leave, what about you?" Sebastian asked.

Kaitlyn laughed bitterly, "I don't need you to worry about me. With my looks, Louis won't be willing to kill me."

"From what I know, Louis is nothing but a playboy. At best, you'd be just another toy in his hands," Sebastian warned.

"It doesn't matter anymore," Kaitlyn replied with a resigned tone. "Even if it's not Louis, there will always be others like him. We women are born to be playthings for men. I've come to accept it.

"What difference does it make whose plaything I am? It's just fate."

"If I stay with Louis, at worst, he'll just use me, but at least I won't have to be scared all the time or worry about my life. Just go. I don't want to see you anymore, and don't ever disrupt my life again."

After saying this, Kaitlyn turned away, tears streaming down her face as she silently whispered apologies to herself.

She wanted to go with Sebastian, even if it meant dying, but she didn't want to be the cause of his downfall. She had already decided—she would go to the Imperial Chaplain Manor and beg Louis to spare Sebastian.

Outside the valley, Rowena saw Louis returning angrily while sitting in the carriage. She quickly asked, "Mr. Louis, what happened? How did you get hurt?"

"It was that bastard Sebastian Wilder! He hurt me, and I'm going to get my father to kill him! And that little tramp Kaitlyn—she dared to cheat on me! I'll play with her in front of that dog!
