A question mark popped over Anastasia’s head. She stared at Monica, her eyes asking a single, silent question: *Are you insane?*

Anastasia stared at her, dumbfounded by the sheer absurdity of it all. She had no patience for this. “Should I call a psychiatric hospital for you?”

Gwen rushed forward, trying to mediate. “Monica, I didn’t ask her to come…” There was no way she would have passed on such a humiliating offer to Anastasia.

Fearing Monica would say something even more insulting, Gwen quickly whispered, “Monica said that… uh… if you needed it, she could get you a job as a server at the party tonight…”
