"Alright, you can go back to your own business. Don't worry about the assessment; it's not your responsibility anyway."
Dean Jerome waved a dismissive hand, deciding not to say anything more.
Queena forced a smile and walked away.
Jerome then turned to Harrison. "Mr. Lancaster, shall I show you around the Institute grounds?"
Harrison glanced at Anastasia, nodded, and left with the dean.
Anastasia still had to wait for the final scores, the list of accepted candidates, and a few words of encouragement from the professors before she could leave. She could only watch wistfully as Harrison departed.
The Institute's grounds were indeed beautiful, but with his mind on someone else, Harrison had little interest in admiring the scenery.
Dean Jerome suddenly spoke, testing the waters. "I was wondering, Mr. Lancaster, about your connection with Ms. Sterling…"
Before he could finish, Queena reappeared.
"Mr. Harrison Lancaster!"
Harrison and Jerome stopped.
Queena ran up to them. "Mr. Lancaster, isn't it unfair to the others for you to use your influence to pull strings for Anastasia?"
"And what is your definition of 'fair,' Ms. Sterling?" Harrison's expression was icy. "When you do the same thing, it's forgivable. But when someone else does it, it requires 'fairness.' Is that it?"
"As for whether this assessment was fair, I believe you know the answer yourself, Ms. Sterling. Many people try to get my attention, but making a special trip to express your indignation is a rather clumsy approach."
Harrison's eyes were as deep and cold as a winter pool, seemingly capable of seeing right through a person's soul.
Queena's face flushed with embarrassment. "That's not what I meant. You've misunderstood me, Mr. Lancaster…"
"Have I?" Harrison replied noncommittally.
Unwilling to give up, Queena was about to say more when Anastasia arrived.
"Hubby!" she called out from a distance. Running to Harrison's side, she first wrapped her arm around his and then glanced at Queena. "What are you guys talking about?"
He looked uncertainly from Anastasia to Harrison. "Mr. Lancaster, this…?"
Harrison calmly wrapped his arm around Anastasia's waist. "Ana is my wife."
Dean Jerome was speechless.
So that was it! No wonder Mr. Lancaster had suddenly become so benevolent. It was all for his wife!
"Thank you for everything today, Dean," Anastasia said with a bright smile.
Dean Jerome was no fool. He immediately replied, "You shouldn't be thanking me, Anastasia. You should be thanking Mr. Lancaster. He approached me first, which is why I decided to change that unreasonable rule."
Anastasia's gaze immediately flew to Harrison, her heart filled with a sweet warmth.
She gave him a hug, completely unconcerned about the dean's presence, and praised him generously. "You're the best, Hubby!"
Even though he had heard those words many times, Harrison still felt a bit flustered under her sparkling gaze. He gently stroked her hair. "It was nothing."
