Susan's face went white. She opened her mouth to speak, then looked at Carter, only to find his gaze had turned to ice. The last trace of warmth he might have held for her was gone.

“Carter wants to stay here, so let him stay.” Even Marina couldn't stand it anymore, frowning at Susan. “Who told you the Lancaster family has any objection?”

Just then, her assistant pulled the car around. She glanced at the time. “I need to get back to the set. Ana, you and Carter should head inside.”

Anastasia nodded. She watched Marina's car drive away, then turned to Carter, completely ignoring the still-present Susan. “Come on, let's go inside.”

She didn't linger on the thought, simply turning and leading Carter into the house.
