Chapter 10: She Has Been Healed

Lillian had initially intended to request a private meeting with Sebastian himself, but she quickly realized that such a direct approach would make her true intentions far too transparent. It could easily lead to misunderstandings, something she wanted to avoid at all costs.

Larry hesitated briefly, then let out a derisive chuckle. From his perspective, Lillian seemed to be merely trying to ingratiate herself with influential people. Yet, the Whitmore family’s prestige was undeniable, and it was perfectly natural for ambitious individuals to seek connections with them. If Lillian truly possessed the talent she claimed, introducing her to the Whitmores wouldn’t be an issue—provided she won the bet.

“No problem at all,” Larry said with a confident smile.

Lillian’s eyes sparkled with determination. “Excellent. Dr. Larry, you may begin.”

She didn’t care what others thought of her efforts; all that mattered was that she could get closer to Sebastian.

Larry grabbed his medical bag and approached Elena. He carefully checked her pulse, examined her legs, then retrieved a syringe and a vial of medicine from his bag. Simon watched on with a mixture of hope and anxiety as Larry administered the injection. He wanted the treatment to work, but part of him feared Lillian might lose the bet.

“This new drug is patented and has demonstrated remarkable clinical results,” Larry assured Elena with confidence. “You’ll soon regain sensation in your legs.”

Elena, seeing his certainty, allowed herself a small flicker of hope.

“Relax, Simon,” James said with a reassuring tone. “Larry is well-respected in Kingston. Even the Whitmore family holds him in high regard.”

Being the family doctor for the Whitmores was no small feat; it was a role reserved for only the most exceptional professionals.

Everyone waited patiently.

But ten minutes slipped by without any sign of improvement.

“Elena, how do you feel?” Simon knelt beside her, gently massaging her legs.

Elena shook her head. She still couldn’t move or exert any strength in her legs.

“This is strange. The medication should have started working by now,” Larry muttered, glancing at his watch. “Let’s give it a little more time.”

Another ten minutes passed.

“Still nothing?” Larry’s forehead was slick with sweat.

“No.”

“Dr. Larry, haven’t we waited long enough?” Lillian asked coldly.

Larry’s face darkened. “This… this isn’t right.”

Lillian shook her head firmly. “I told you, Mrs. Carter’s condition can’t be treated with modern medicine.”

He stood up, pulled out a set of slender silver needles, and moved toward Elena.

Lillian smiled softly. “Yes, Mr. Simon. Your wife is fine now. I’ll prescribe some medication to support her recovery. After six months of treatment, her condition should fully stabilize.”

“This is amazing! Truly wonderful!” Simon exclaimed, elated. “You are definitely worthy of being Mr. Leonard’s apprentice! He made a wise choice. With such medical expertise at your age, it’s no surprise your reputation is catching up with his. You may even surpass him someday!”

Lillian remained composed as she took out a pen and paper to write the prescription.

“How… how is this possible?” Larry stammered, utterly stunned. The specialized drug he and his team had painstakingly developed couldn’t cure Elena, yet Lillian had done so with just a few silver needles.

It was nothing short of miraculous.

“Mrs. Harrington, I apologize for my earlier disrespect. I hope you can forgive me,” James said, feeling completely humiliated. His pride had taken a serious blow.

Larry approached and bowed deeply to Lillian. Though proud, his commitment to medicine was genuine, and now he was truly convinced. “Mrs. Harrington, I apologize. My professional training made me biased against traditional medicine, and I spoke out of turn.”

“Dr. Larry, there’s no need to apologize,” Lillian replied calmly. “Just don’t forget the terms of our bet.”

Larry might have been arrogant, but he respected true medical skill. Having witnessed Lillian’s abilities firsthand, he had no excuses left. Before departing, he handed her his business card.

“Of course. Mrs. Harrington, when you come to Kingston, please contact me. I will personally introduce you to the Whitmore family.”

He had already made up his mind to escort Lillian to meet Sebastian himself. However, since Sebastian was currently away from Kingston, the arrangements would have to wait for another time.
