Chapter 118 The Man Returns

In early December, Solara had already slipped into early winter. The coastal chill left the entire city damp and cold.

Ever since returning from Kingston, Lilian had instructed Karina to begin construction on the new Skyreach Group headquarters

there.

The land had been a gift from Mr. Robert–and its location couldn’t have been more ideal.

With exams approaching, most of her time was spent in self–study.

At Golden Coast-

Lilian lay stretched out on a lounge chair on the balcony, eyes half–closed as she enjoyed a rare moment of peace. The sun was warm against her skin. It had been a long time since she’d felt a day like this.

Beside her, the little fox lay sprawled belly–up, limbs dangling lazily.

“Mom, can’t Little Mosquito come out and play?”

Lilian answered softly, “No. He’s a spirit beast from my inner space. He can’t leave.”

“Aww, what a shame.”

Just then, her phone rang.

Still lounging, Lilian fumbled for it, answered lazily. “Hello? Who’s this?”

No one replied.

She waited thirty seconds, frowning. “If you don’t say something, I’m hanging up.”

A low chuckle came through the line. The voice that followed was rich and deep. “A few days apart, and you’ve grown even more feisty.”

Her brows lifted. She smiled, playful. “Who would’ve thought? Mr. Sebastian, taking time out of his incredibly busy life to call little ol‘ me? I’m honored.”

Sebastian’s magnetic voice drifted through the phone, smooth and amused. “That tone sounds suspiciously bitter… What, missed me?”

Lilian rolled her eyes. “Miss you? You hearing things again?”

Sebastian let out a low laugh. “Yeah, must be my ears.”

Her cheeks flushed.

Then his voice dropped, low and seductive. “Lilian. Come downstairs. I’m waiting for you.”

He hung up.

Staring at the screen, Lilian froze, blinked, then quickly checked the call history again–just to be sure it hadn’t been a dream. When it hit her, she scrambled to her feet, snatched her coat, and dashed out the door.

Outside, in the soft winter sun, a man leaned casually against his car. Hands in his pockets, black sunglasses covering half his face- but even so, his striking looks drew the attention of passersby.

When he saw the little girl running out of the building, a smile quietly softened his features.

She reached him, breathless. “When did you get back?”

Sebastian opened his arms and pulled her into a firm embrace, whispering by her ear, “Lilian, I missed you.”

His words made her smile without even realizing it.

Despite the cold wind, the moment felt inexplicably warm.

Once they got into the car, Foster silently raised the partition.

Lilian propped her chin in her hand and looked at him. “I thought you only showed up like the Monkey King–riding in on rainbow clouds when I’m in danger.”

Sebastian’s obsidian eyes locked onto her. He gently brushed the tip of her nose. “Ungrateful little thing. Everything I’m doing is so you can live freely.”

Lilian grinned, mischievous. “Perfect. Then I look forward to the day I can strut around like a sideways crab.”

Sebastian chuckled, shaking his head, and pulled a small box from the side. “Here. See if you like it.”

Lilian blinked and took the box, noticing the logo but not recognizing it. Inside was a pearlescent white watch, rimmed with diamonds. It sparkled, dazzling yet understated.

She picked it up, confused. “This is for me?”

Sebastian took it from her hand and fastened it onto her wrist. “Saw it and thought of you. So I bought it.”

The way the soft luster hugged her pale wrist–it really did suit her. He smiled in satisfaction.

Lilian glanced down at the watch and had to admit–his taste was impeccable. Quiet luxury, elegant and refined.

“Planning to debut in the entertainment world?” Sebastian asked, eyes on her.

She sighed, rubbing her temples. “That video was a total accident.”

She barely had time to breathe, let alone consider anything like that.

Sebastian ruffled her hair. “Whatever you want to do, just do it. If you get tired, I’m here. I can take care of you.”

“Who said you’re taking care of me?”

He smiled, voice soft. “Since I’ve already decided on you, taking care of my future wife is only natural.”

Lilian’s face turned crimson. She shot him a look. “Shameless.”

Sebastian saw the flush in her cheeks, and his eyes darkened slightly.

Then he said quietly, “There’s someone looking into Mr. Robert’s case. I’ve already erased all traces of your involvement.”

Lilian’s expression instantly turned serious. That Sebastian knew didn’t surprise her–but someone investigating did.

Sebastian met her eyes. “Mr. Robert’s identity is too sensitive. Saving him comes with both risk and reward. But I’ll do everything I can to protect you. Still, Lilian… you have to grow stronger–fast.”

She nodded, thoughtful. “I know. I shouldn’t get involved in the Kingston circle too deeply–not yet. Saving Mr. Robert was pure coincidence. But if anyone dares to make a move, I won’t hesitate. I’ll make sure they don’t walk away.”

Sebastian’s heart clenched slightly. He spoke in a low voice, “Lilian, hands like yours shouldn’t be stained with blood. Let me shield. you.”

Lilian looked at him with steady eyes. “Sebastian, I don’t want to be a caged canary. I want to soar. I want to stand beside you–not hide behind you.”

Hearing her words, Sebastian gently kissed her hair and pulled her tightly into his arms.

So small, so delicate–and all he wanted was to protect her from the world. But she was a fledgling hawk, and her world… was the sky.
