Cameron stole a quick glance at the man sitting beside him, only to be met with an intense, piercing look that sent an unexpected shiver down his spine. The sharpness in Sebastian’s eyes was almost unsettling.

Yet, Lilian seemed completely unfazed by the tension in the air. She offered a gentle smile and said softly, “I’m an orphan. My mentor raised me. It’s nothing serious, really—nothing to be ashamed of.” Her tone was calm, almost casual, as if revealing a deep truth that held no weight for her.

As she spoke, Lilian gave the man’s hand a light, reassuring pat, signaling that he didn’t need to take the matter so gravely. For her, being an orphan was never a burden or a source of sorrow. Honestly, she didn’t mind Cameron at all. He was blunt and unfiltered, but his honesty was refreshing. Maybe a little unreliable at times, but when it mattered, he was fiercely loyal.

Sebastian, meanwhile, reached over and gently placed a piece of short rib onto Lilian’s plate. His deep voice was soft and warm as he said, “Eat. Don’t waste your time on him.”

She and Karina had already finalized the New Year’s plans for the company, leaving no urgent tasks behind.
