“It’s beautiful,” he murmured in quiet admiration.

Lillian lowered her gaze to the jewel resting against her chest. “This is far too valuable.”

Sebastian brushed a soft kiss across her forehead. “Not even a fraction as precious as you.”

Her heart fluttered under his steady, tender gaze. Somewhere along the way, she’d let him walk this far with her–without even realizing it.

“For Mr. Geo’s birthday?” Lillian arched a brow with a slight smile. “No matter how busy I am, I’d never miss it.”

For a moment, Cayden was dazed. Two years had passed, and the girl he remembered was gone–replaced by a young woman with quiet, unshakable poise. “Come on; Grandpa’s been talking about you nonstop. He’ll be thrilled to see you.”

As the two walked deeper into the hall, the crowd watched in stunned silence, exchanging quiet speculation. The Hawk family’s second son was so openly warm with her.

From their brief exchange, it was obvious that Geo himself held her in high regard.
