There, a photograph had been posted—a boy looking at a girl with an intensity that bordered on possessive. Whether it was the angle or the moment captured, the two appeared unnervingly close, their connection too intimate to be innocent.

Sebastian’s dark eyes burned with a cold, seething fury that seemed to drain the warmth from the room itself.

Standing nearby, Foster wiped the sweat from his brow, his voice cautious and measured. “It’s just the way the photo was taken. I’ve confirmed—Miss Lillian rejected him immediately. Please don’t jump to conclusions.”

Sebastian’s long, sculpted fingers hovered tensely above the keyboard, knuckles white with restraint. Then, with a few swift, precise keystrokes, the entire forum vanished. The screen went black, save for a scrolling line of code.

Foster glanced down at his phone, attempting to reload the site, only to find it completely inaccessible. Once again, he was left in awe of his boss’s formidable influence.

Only after erasing the incriminating images did Sebastian’s expression soften slightly. “How’s the progress on acquiring the assets of the Chris residence?” he asked.

“Several key industries tied to their holdings have already been secured,” Foster replied promptly.

Sebastian’s fingers tapped relentlessly on the keyboard. “Accelerate the process. I want every connection unearthed. Nothing must be left intact.”

“Yes, sir. There’s one more thing,” Foster added after a brief hesitation. “While investigating the Sinclair Group, I discovered that Henry’s current wife isn’t his first. He had a previous marriage—his first wife died in a car accident nine years ago. She left behind a daughter, who then disappeared shortly after.”

Sebastian’s eyes narrowed sharply. “A daughter?”

“Yes. Her name was Lillian. And Henry’s current daughter is only about six months younger than her.”

The temperature in the study seemed to drop several degrees. Sebastian’s breath came out in a sharp, cold exhale, his gaze icy enough to freeze steel.

“Lillian…” he whispered under his breath.

After a long, heavy pause, he gave his order. “Keep digging. I want every shred of information brought to light.”

“Understood, sir.” Foster bowed respectfully before leaving the room.

Faced with his unwavering expectation, Lillian let out a defeated sigh. “Fine. I’ll do my best. But if things don’t go perfectly, don’t hold me responsible.”

The principal’s relief was immediate and visible. “Good. I have complete confidence in your success.”

Lillian swallowed the words she wanted to say—they would have been pointless. She left the office feeling resigned, though at least she still had two weeks to prepare.

As she made her way back to class, her phone buzzed sharply.

“Lillian,” Karina’s urgent voice came through, trembling slightly, “the Light Pill formula has been leaked from the research institute.”

“The Light Pill formula?” Lillian’s eyes hardened, a cold smile creeping onto her lips. “Which company?”

“Kingston Sinclair Group Pharmaceuticals.”

Lillian froze in place. Of all the names, this was the last one she expected to hear so soon.
