The sleek car glided effortlessly through the grand gates of the estate, finally coming to a gentle halt in front of the imposing main house. Louis quickly stepped forward to open the door, only to find Sebastian carefully cradling the sleeping girl in his arms.

A single look at her serene face instantly brought clarity to the situation.

“Should I prepare a room for Ms. Lilian?” Louis asked quietly, his voice low and respectful.

“No need,” Sebastian replied softly, casting a tender glance down at Lilian before turning toward the house.

Louis trailed closely behind as Sebastian carried the girl up the staircase, their footsteps echoing softly in the expansive hallway.

Inside one of the spacious bedrooms, Sebastian gently laid Lilian down on the bed. He bent over to remove her shoes and socks with delicate care, then draped a light blanket over her.

He brushed a stray lock of hair away from her cheek and studied her sleeping expression. The usual coldness and distance that often clouded her face had vanished. In this quiet moment, she resembled a small, peaceful kitten, curled up and vulnerable. A flicker of warmth and affection shone in Sebastian’s eyes.

The Next Morning

Lilian stirred slowly, her head pounding faintly from the lingering effects of last night. She rubbed her temples, trying to clear the fog clouding her mind. After a moment, she sat up and took in her surroundings.

Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the room, sheer white curtains swaying gently in the morning breeze. A plush European-style rug covered the floor, its soft texture inviting and luxurious. Every detail spoke of opulence and comfort.

Just then, the door creaked open.

A man entered with smooth, measured steps. He wore a black knit sweater paired with casual slacks. The usual icy edge in his demeanor had softened, replaced by a subtle warmth that made him seem almost approachable. His chiseled features were striking, and his every movement carried an air of nobility and grace.

He approached the bed and gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind Lilian’s ear. “How are you feeling? Any discomfort anywhere?”

Lilian blinked up at him, confusion flickering across her face. “Why am I here?”

“You fell asleep in the car last night, so I brought you back with me,” Sebastian explained calmly. He then motioned for someone to bring her clothes.

Seeing her like this stirred something deep inside Sebastian — an overwhelming urge to keep this girl all to himself, to shield her from the harshness of the world.

“Looks really do matter,” he murmured under his breath.

Lilian glanced down at the dress and then rolled her eyes. “Why do you care how I look? You could’ve just taken me home last night. Clearly, you had other reasons.”

Sebastian chuckled warmly. “Ungrateful little thing. Wasn’t it you who said last night that I had to repay you for the rest of my life?”

Her cheeks flushed a deep pink instantly. “Who’s ungrateful? Don’t twist my words. I’m not talking to you.” With that, she turned sharply and began to leave.

She remembered everything from the night before now, and the more she thought about what she had said, the more embarrassed she felt.

Watching her walk away, Sebastian’s lips curved into a fond, almost tender smile. His dark, obsidian eyes shimmered with a light so captivating it could draw anyone in.
