Chapter 336 Lisa’s Complaint

When the two arrived at the top–floor office, Ryan was already slouched on the couch scrolling aimlessly through his phone.

“Finally, you’re here. I’ve been waiting so long the flowers wilted,” he quipped.

Lillian dropped her bag, smiling. “I came straight from the airport. Don’t blame me, blame Wayne. A beauty came knocking, and he couldn’t resist playing the hero in a little ‘tear off the saint’s mask‘ drama.”

Ryan perked up and pounced on Wayne. “Come on, tell me, tell me!”

Wayne strolled over to the lounge area, poured himself a cup of tea, and smirked. “Tell you what?”

Ryan leaned forward eagerly. “The girl, of course. You think I want to hear about some muscle–bound guy?”

Wayne took a seat, savoring his tea before answering with mock gravity. “Do you really want to know?”

“Obviously!” Ryan snapped.

Wayne cleared his throat and launched into an exaggerated tale, his expression animated. “On a dark and windy night, a beauty appeared, carried by the breeze. From afar she looked graceful, her voice soft as she said, ‘Young master, I was born for you, I’ve come to repay my debt.’

But when the scholar saw her face, he recoiled. ‘Why are you so ugly?‘

The beauty blinked, confused. ‘Everyone says Mr. Ryan only knows numbers. Who knew he could judge beauty and ugliness?“”

By the time Wayne finished, Lillian was doubled over laughing.

Ryan blinked, then realized he was the punchline. “You bastard! You’re mocking me!” He lunged to tackle Wayne.

Wayne barely held back his laughter as he fended him off. “What, you won’t let a man tell the truth? Back in the old days, you’d be branded a tyrant for this.”

Lillian picked up a file from the desk and walked over, cutting through the chaos. “Alright, enough. If you want to fight, take it to a boxing gym. Right now we need to talk about the spokesperson.”

The joking atmosphere evaporated instantly.

“For this jewelry endorsement, what do you both think?” she asked.

Ryan leaned forward, serious. “The company’s research shows jewelry is women’s greatest indulgence. The image is usually luxurious and dignified. That suggests picking someone slightly older to carry the aura.”

Wayne nodded. “True, most leading brands play it safe with that image. But we could step outside the box. Our focus is haute couture–we don’t need to cling to tradition. The spending power is shifting younger. Why not strike from a new angle?”

Lillian considered this, then looked at Wayne. “The candidates you shortlisted–when are they coming?”

“Tomorrow, two in the afternoon,” he answered.

“Fine. Let’s meet them first, then decide,” she said after a pause.

Wayne agreed. “Right. If they don’t fit, we’ll start over.”

On the other side of town, Lisa sat in the lounge sobbing, her voice thick with grievance. “Skyreach Group went too far. I already lowered myself, apologized, begged–and they still wouldn’t let it go. If it weren’t for you sending me there, who would put up with that kind of humiliation?”

Rachel, seated beside her, stoked the flames. “Exactly. You didn’t see that Mr. Wayne from Skyreach. Arrogant beyond belief. He told us flat out they had no place for us and personally escorted us out. Lisa’s dignity is in shreds today.”

Lisa sniffled, eyes glistening as she turned to the man at her side. “My pride doesn’t matter. But for them to slander our company- that’s unforgivable. You have to stand up for us.”
