Chapter 35: Planning

Behind Lilian, the receptionist stood frozen, clearly taken aback.

“Th-The president’s private elevator just activated!” she stammered, eyes wide with surprise.

Lilian didn’t hesitate. The elevator whisked her directly to the penthouse floor. The moment she stepped into her spacious office, Ryan appeared, carrying a hefty stack of documents. He wore a playful grin as he teased, “You really are the most hands-off boss I’ve ever met. I get that you can’t be here every day, but you could at least drop by occasionally. The staff are all buzzing with curiosity about you. I’d just stepped out of my office when I overheard whispers in the secretary’s room—someone had used the private elevator. I knew immediately it had to be you.” With a flourish, he placed the papers neatly on her desk.

Lilian’s eyes flicked to the pile. “Where’s Karina?” she asked, her tone calm but curious.

“She’s at the construction site. The pharmaceutical plant is nearing completion, so she’s been checking in regularly. Most of the positions here are filled, so her focus has shifted over there,” Ryan explained smoothly, then gestured toward the documents. “These are our current real estate development plans, plus the latest updates on the entertainment division. We’ve recently signed a few new artists.”

Lilian nodded slightly. “The art school students you asked me to review—the ones we’re nurturing for future talent?”

Ryan smiled. “They’re already under contract. No big names yet, but it’s a solid start.”

She picked up the documents and began examining them, her eyes scanning quickly as her fingers made notes and corrections. Ryan watched her for a moment, impressed by how focused she was, and chose to stay silent for a while.

After several minutes, Lilian looked up without breaking her concentration. “Go ahead. I’m listening,” she said, not pausing her work.

Ryan blinked, surprised by how fast she had gone through everything. “Ma’am, you’ve already finished reading all that?”

Lilian glanced at the now-annotated stack and replied casually, “Yeah. I have a photographic memory—forgot to mention that.”

A brief pause followed, and then Lilian looked up, her expression thoughtful. “Ryan, let’s spin off our financial investment department and register it as a separate company. I want to dedicate significant focus to that sector.”

“As for the real estate investments, survey the neighborhoods around our current properties. Build a comprehensive plan. It will increase our property values. Real estate isn’t just about providing housing—it’s about creating convenience and improving the future lifestyles of residents.”

“For the entertainment division, I’ve outlined a few TV shows and films that seem promising. When you start negotiating, make sure our artists are included in the deals. Their participation should be a condition.”

“And when Karina returns, tell her to keep an eye out for any promising medical research institutes. If anything worthwhile comes up, I want to know immediately. I’ll need to act fast.”

Ryan absorbed her instructions, impressed by her clarity and vision. The room seemed charged with a renewed sense of purpose as Lilian’s plans began to take shape, each detail carefully considered and ready to be set into motion.
