The moment Lilian finished speaking, Sharon’s fury erupted like a volcano. No one had ever dared to speak to her in such a way—not in all her life. And to be reprimanded by a mere teenage girl? That was the final straw. Her temper snapped instantly.

“You little brat! Don’t you dare test me! My brother was offering you a way out, and now you act like you’re some bigshot? How dare you throw your weight around in the Goodman household? You’ve got some nerve!” Sharon spat, her voice trembling with rage.

Lilian’s expression remained cool and composed, as if she found the whole scene mildly entertaining. A soft, almost mocking laugh escaped her lips.

“There’s an old saying, Ms. Sharon—‘If you don’t act like a fool, you might not end up dying like one.’ I was ready to let this slide, but clearly, your mouth only produces nonsense. Maybe it’s best if you just stop talking altogether.”

With a subtle flick of her fingers, a sharp blue light sparked and flickered at her fingertips, poised and dangerous.

Killian sprang forward, stepping in front of Lilian with a scowl darkening his features. “Ms. Lilian, that’s enough. You’ve already caused enough pain to my brother and his wife. Show some restraint. Remember, this is the Goodman family’s home. Keep pushing, and don’t blame me for what happens next.”

Lilian scoffed, unimpressed. “Oh? And what exactly will happen next? You’ll call the police? By all means, do. I was planning on stopping by the station anyway. On my way here, someone attacked me. I haven’t had the chance to file a report yet. Maybe if the cops dig a little, they’ll uncover something interesting.”

Killian’s face paled visibly at her words.

Before he could respond, there was a sudden whoosh—a flash of blue light—and Sharon suddenly clutched her throat with both hands, eyes wide with terror. She opened her mouth repeatedly, making strangled “ah… ah… ah…” sounds, but no words came out.

Panic surged in her gaze, quickly followed by burning hatred. The venom in her glare toward Lilian was so fierce it felt almost lethal.

Yet Lilian didn’t flinch in the slightest. Her voice remained calm and steady as she turned to Landon. “Let’s go. The performance is over. It’s time to see the patient.”

Upstairs, in the master bedroom, Lilian sat quietly by the unconscious old man’s bedside, her fingers gently but precisely checking his pulse. Landon stood nearby, his eyes locked on her every motion, anxiety etched across his face.

When Lilian finally withdrew her hand, Landon couldn’t hold back any longer. “Ms. Lilian, how is he? What’s wrong with the master?”

Her gaze sharpened, a flicker of seriousness crossing her face. “He’s been poisoned. He had some preexisting health problems, but nothing life-threatening. This time, someone deliberately used poison to speed up his organ failure. The toxin has already reached his lungs. If I had arrived just one day later, you might have been preparing for his funeral.”

Landon’s body froze, his face flushing with anger. He clenched his fists tightly, muttering a curse under his breath. “Those bastards…”

Then, turning back to Lilian, his eyes blazed with a mix of desperation and hope. “Ms. Lilian, can you save him? Before he lost consciousness, the master said—whatever your conditions are, he’ll agree to them. No matter what.”
