Merrick sat down, letting out a breath, and said, “I really can’t deny that I’m getting old. Standing for a bit and my back starts to ache. It seems I truly do need a rest.”
Madison poured a cup of tea and placed it in front of the old man. “Dad, please have some tea and relax. The banquet is still long, don’t wear yourself out.”
Merrick picked up the teacup, took a sip, and asked, “Has Lilian arrived?”
Ivanov glanced at the time and said, “She should be arriving soon. I just called her, and she said she’s on the way, but there’s a bit of traffic.”
Tracy, standing nearby, complained with dissatisfaction, “To be late for such an important occasion, she truly has no sense of time. But then again, she grew up in a small town and is an orphan, so we can’t expect her to have the same upbringing as Audrey. I just hope she doesn’t embarrass the Philips family today.”
Linette, seeing the old man’s face slightly sour, quickly interjected with a smile, “She’s a young woman, of course, she needs to put on makeup and dress up. Besides, the banquet hasn’t officially started, so she’s not technically late.”
Tracy sneered, “Are we not wearing makeup? Moreover, making so many elders wait is simply a sign of poor upbringing.”
Merrick placed the teacup down heavily on the table, his eyes sharply focused on Tracy. “You seem to have investigated her quite thoroughly. Then tell me, what else have you found?”
Seeing the old man growing angry, Tracy’s expression instantly became uneasy. “I only heard things from others. I don’t even know her, why would I investigate her?”
Merrick snorted coldly, “I hear all you do is spread hearsay all day. What else can you do? An orphan! What is wrong with being an orphan? Who says an orphan has no manners? From now on, keep your self- righteous comments to yourself in my presence.”
Tracy’s face instantly flushed crimson, feeling utterly disgraced, and the clutch in her hand became slightly distorted from the tight grip.
Sitting on the side, Madison watched Tracy’s distorted expression, a cold smile flickering across her lips.
Just then, a commotion arose at the entrance of the banquet hall.
A man was seen wearing a black vintage suit with subtle, dark patterns, and a coat from the same series draped over his shoulders. The watch on his wrist gave off a cold gleam, all showcasing the man’s low–key luxury. When his face came into view, the surroundings/gasped. His features were exquisitely handsome, his face perfectly sculpted, his demeanor utterly noble, exuding an aura of a king that commanded involuntary submission.
The man’s appearance instantly brought a silence to the hall, filling the eyes of the self–proclaimed noble female guests with deep infatuation.
But when they saw the girl in the man’s arms, they were instantly overcome with jealousy, envy, and

various other looks directed at her.
The girl wore an ice–blue long dress with a simple and elegant design that perfectly showcased her vibrant and ethereal aura. The silver threads and tiny diamonds on the dress sparkled brightly under the crystal chandelier. A loosely styled braid fell across her chest, adorned with blue crystal accessories that were both delicate and lovely. Her features were breathtakingly beautiful, her skin fair, but the most stunning were her eyes, which shone like brilliant stars.
When Houis and Jackson saw the girl, they were both stunned into silence, as she bore a striking resemblance to someone they remembered.
Not far away, Ivanov was also completely shocked, muttering as he stared in Lilian’s direction, “Why is she here?”
Audrey asked in confusion, “Do you know her?”
Ivanov nodded. “Yes, she’s the beautiful woman who helped me subdue the thief.” He then placed his knife and fork onto his plate, wiped his mouth, stood up, and said, “I’ll talk to you later, I need to go see my benefactor.” He then quickly walked over.
