The car raced down the highway, cutting through the evening air with relentless speed.

Inside, Lilian sat with a casual grace, one leg crossed over the other, her posture deceptively relaxed. Though her eyes were covered by a blindfold and her wrists tightly bound, she made no sound—no struggle, no cry for help. The calmness she radiated was almost unnerving.

The two men dressed in black who flanked her exchanged uneasy glances. In all their years of carrying out kidnappings, they had never encountered anyone who remained so composed under such circumstances. Their unease quickly turned into suspicion. The vehicle soon veered off the highway, taking a twisting, narrow road that wound deep into the mountains. Though her eyes were covered, Lilian’s ears caught every detail—the crunch of gravel beneath the tires, the rustling of leaves in the cool mountain breeze, the distant call of a night bird. The atmosphere told her they were far from the city’s chaos, surrounded by nothing but rugged wilderness.

Her expression remained blank, cold and unyielding. Kidnapping. The word stirred memories she had buried long ago. In her previous life, her stepmother had wielded this very tactic against her countless times. The thought brought a bitter, almost nostalgic smile to her lips.

They escorted her inside a vast, empty warehouse.

“Well, Lilian. It’s been a long time,” a soft, familiar female voice called out, dripping with false sweetness.

A man pulled the blindfold away, and after a moment for her eyes to adjust, Lilian took in her surroundings. The space was cavernous and deserted except for Yulia, who stood smiling at her, flanked by several men dressed in black.

Lilian’s lips curled into a sneer. “Yulia, kidnapping? Is that really the best you could come up with? No creativity at all?”

Yulia’s expression twisted with fury and madness. “You act like some miracle doctor, so amazing. But after tonight, when you’re broken and used up, let’s see how long your precious reputation lasts. I’ll upload everything—every second of what happens to you—and let the world see the real Lilian.”

Lilian’s response was a weary sigh, tinged with exasperation. She had no patience for Yulia’s delusions.

“I have zero interest in your precious Jeremy,” she said coldly. “Let me go now. What you’re doing is a crime.”

Yulia stepped closer, still smiling, but there was a dangerous edge beneath it. “A crime? That’s the biggest joke I’ve heard. I’m the Sawyer heiress, the future head of Sawyer Corp. Taking down a filthy girl like you? That’s nothing.”

Lilian’s voice hardened. “Aren’t you worried about what Jeremy will think when he finds out? No man wants a woman who’s cruel and heartless.”

She didn’t care about Jeremy herself, but watching someone destroy themselves over a man was a tragedy she couldn’t ignore. It was sad—and completely pointless.
