Now the proud owner of his cherished diamond, he asked Lilian to help him fasten it around his neck right then and there.
After visiting several more picturesque spots, Karina finally sent over the documents that Lilian had requested. As Lilian skimmed through the details on her phone, a knowing and meaningful smile slowly spread across her lips.
They continued their exploration of the city, wandering through bustling streets and quiet alleys alike, until the sun dipped below the horizon and night settled in. Eventually, they made their way back to the Lincoln estate.
The moment Lilian stepped inside, she immediately sensed the thick tension lingering in the air. Yet, as soon as she crossed the threshold, the atmosphere visibly softened, and everyone seemed to relax.
“Lilian, you must be exhausted after all that walking,” Mr. Quinton greeted her warmly, his voice gentle. “Everyone’s been waiting for you to join them for dinner.”
Lilian returned his smile. “Mr. Quinton, I should have called to let you know. It was thoughtless of me to keep you waiting.”
He chuckled kindly. “Nonsense. You’re young, and it’s your first time in Sandy River. I should have arranged someone to show you around. That was my oversight.”
“I actually prefer wandering on my own,” Lilian replied with casual ease, shrugging slightly.
“Well then, let’s eat,” he said, taking her arm softly and guiding her toward the dining room.
The others followed quietly behind them. The table was already set, the food steaming and ready. A heavy silence settled over the room; no one spoke, and only the faint clinking of cutlery broke the stillness.
After the meal, Lilian pulled a small bottle from her bag and handed it to Mr. Quinton. “This is for Jimmy. It should help speed up his recovery. I’m leaving tomorrow.”
Without hesitation, Mr. Quinton accepted the bottle. “Lilian, I can’t thank you enough. If you ever need anything—anything at all—and I can help, just say the word.” He gave a subtle nod to the butler, who promptly brought over a check.
Mr. Quinton placed the check in Lilian’s hand. “A small token of my appreciation. Please accept it. And when you return, give Leonard my regards. Tell him I’ll visit when I can.”
Lilian glanced down at the check—fifty million. She blinked, momentarily caught off guard by the staggering amount, then raised an eyebrow with a playful smirk. “Mr. Quinton, your grandson sure is expensive.”
He laughed heartily. “You cheeky girl. Go on, take it. Your skills are worth every cent.”
Justin turned back to Lilian, his expression apologetic. “Please don’t take her words to heart. I truly hope you’ll consider saving my father. Name your price—anything.”
Rona stepped forward, her eyes red and glistening. “Lilian, please. It was all our fault. I’m begging you. Save Barry.”
Lilian paused, considering for a moment before looking Justin in the eye. “Fine. I’ll save him. But I want Wings Corp.”
She wasn’t a saint. If she was going to help the very people who had insulted her, she wasn’t going to do it for free. Besides, the three plots of land she had taken an interest in were all owned by Wings Corp.
Justin stared at her, stunned. He couldn’t understand why a girl like her would want a real estate company, but considering Wings Corp’s struggling valuation and those few undeveloped lots, he didn’t think much of it.
“Deal. Tomorrow, I’ll transfer everything. Once it’s done, please help my father.”
With her goal secured, Lilian didn’t linger. Offering a casual excuse, she headed upstairs to rest, her mind already racing with plans for what was to come.
