"So... are you going to go?" Jade asked weakly, her confidence entirely shot.

Clayton saw right through her. She wanted him to go purely so Natalia would stop targeting her.

"You don't have to go..." Jade tried again, her anxiety spiking. "Natalia is completely psychotic. What if she tries to do something to you?"

Clayton let out a dark scoff, ignoring her entirely, and walked over to sit on the sofa.

Jade awkwardly shuffled over to him. "I'm sorry... I wasn't trying to hide it from you. You've just been so busy..."

Clayton remained silent.

Jade kept rambling, desperate to justify herself. "I know Natalia is obsessed with you. She's liked you forever. Her endgame is just to have you, so she obviously wouldn't try to physically hurt you. Besides... you're a guy. It's not like you're going to lose anything by just showing up..."

Her voice trailed off into a whisper.

She didn't even dare to make eye contact.
