"What do you mean? How come you can't feel your legs?"

Somehow his question, as normal as it could be, triggered a war, a storm in me. And I burst out.

"Exactly as you heard. I wonder the same thing. Why was I fine yesterday and today the damn paralysis came back? I'm sick of this nonsense!" I screamed and my crying turned wild.

Since I couldn't understand how my body functioned, I tested its limits. I grabbed onto his clothes with my last strength and tried to pull myself up.

Dominic immediately understood what I wanted to do and backed me up with his body and arms until I was on my feet, but shaking.

"Rebecca, please slow down a little! You're going to hurt yourself. Look, I don't know why this is happening, but we'll find out. We'll go to Declan again for tests, but right now try to calm down and don't push yourself" His calmness at this point brought me to the edge.

"Stop telling me to calm down," I screamed in pain, feeling like I was fighting with myself. "I kept calm all these months. Hell, I had even been so patient that I could only count the days until I would return to my old self again. I endured all the damn pain and for what? For nothing!"

Suddenly, I lost control a bit. In my attempt to walk, I was practically dragging Dominic behind me. Poor man, when I saw I had no chance of budging his massive body, I started a storm of punches into his chest. I was already feeling much better and he let me continue until I calmed down again. I abandoned myself to his embrace after I got tired.

And that was the moment I wanted to happen again. I felt his index finger under my chin, lifting it up. Time stopped. His tall posture was so close to me I could feel his breath warming my lips. As if on instinct, I opened mine. I was about to let this man kiss me. Because that's what he was going to do, wasn't he?

When I woke up alone, a million thoughts ran through my mind. The desire wasn't gone entirely; it was still there, refusing to fade away. The truth was, I didn't want those feelings to go away.

Was it possible to get back in a wheelchair? I clung desperately to the hope that it would not happen.

Dominic left the room so quickly that I could hardly recover from what had just happened between us.

It was still morning when I picked up the crutches, I had purchased a little after I recovered and walked a bit.
