After ending the call, I emerged, and Wanda remained, conversing with

Grant. His expression remained somber. After a long pause, he raised the issue

again.

“Have you concluded with your friend? Alter that designation, now.”

I glanced at him, surprised. He did care, did he not? I nodded, but he

remained unaware of my true intentions. Grant accepted it as agreement and

relaxed, a change Wanda observed.

Her expression shifted. She hadn’t expected Grant to react so strongly.

“It is still early. Rosie, Grant, allow me to treat you to a meal and a film.

Thank you for your support.”

I knew Wanda’s motive: to demonstrate Grant’s kindness towards her.

I refused. First, I did not wish to participate in her game. Second, I had

pressing matters to attend to. But Wanda would not relent. With a mournful

expression, she turned to Grant.

“Rosie is still angered by me, is she not? I was selfish and foolish… Rosie, I

apologize.”

She began to cry, prompting Grant’s sympathy. Then, he cast a disapproving

I sighed. If I refused, Wanda would weep, and I would be cast as the villain.

It was mealtime, so we went to a restaurant. A seafood establishment. In the

private room, I observed Grant.

He avoided my gaze, bestowing tenderness upon Wanda as she ordered. He

should feel guilt. He knew my aversion to seafood; yet, he acquiesced solely

because Wanda favored it.

I drank only water while Wanda devoured the shrimp Grant shelled for her.

She looked at me, puzzled.

“Rosie, it is delicious. Why do you not partake?”

I smirked, about to speak, when Grant changed the subject. Another plate of

shrimp appeared before Wanda. She thanked him shyly, forgetting me.

After the meal, Wanda dragged us to a cinema and selected a horror film.

Another manipulation.

“Aaah!” Wanda screamed repeatedly, seizing Grant’s hand, crying that she

was frightened. Eventually, she hid in his embrace.

Grant hesitated, wanting to push her

away, but seeing her tears, and

thinking of her father, he couldn’t. He saw me observing them and attempted to

explain, but I turned away, continuing to watch the film.

He called me by my nickname, but I ignored him, so he continued to comfort

Wanda. I laughed internally. The scent of his deceit was strong.
