Grant froze, then lay back down, telling them everything. Hearing the IVF

thing, Grant’s parents shook their heads in disappointment.

“Grant, you’re a smart kid. Why would you do that?” 

He didn’t answer but cried silently. He didn’t why, either. He had thought 

that Rosie would never leave him.

His mother felt sorry for him and started complaining.“You may have done 

something wrong, but you’re suffering all this because of her! She’s to blame!” 

Grant wanted to protest, but he didn’t know hat to say. The truth was, Rosie 

didn’t even come to visit him.

Wanda clutched the arm of Grant’s mother, looking terrified.

“Baby… Auntie, my baby!”

That stunned everyone. Grant asked, “What baby?”

He never slept with her. How could she be pregnant?

“Two weeks ago, 

I asked the doctor to take out the sperm you left in the 

hospital and then had IVF. Grant, I just want a baby with you…” 

The baby was his? If she had the baby, would Rosie ever forgive him? He

decided to ask Wanda to have an abortion.

But he failed. He couldn’t get rid of the baby or Wanda.

“Mom, Dad, I’m not marrying her.”

Grant refused. His parents felt helpless.

Grant knew they were doing this for him, but he wasn’t ready to give up on 

Rosie. He was so close to marrying me. Why would things turn out like this?

How could he accept this?
