Lizetta looked at him in mock surprise. “No way. Did you really not prepare a gift for me? Tsk, tsk. You give your adopted daughter a luxury sports car worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, but your long-lost biological daughter gets absolutely nothing. All that talk about looking forward to my return, wanting me to be happy—it was all just empty lip service, wasn't it?”

Conrad did feel a twinge of guilt, mainly because he realized he had genuinely forgotten to prepare anything for Lizetta.

But hearing her call him out so bluntly twisted that guilt into defensive embarrassment.

“I had to explicitly ask for one, and I still haven't gotten anything. And you want me to play the saint? If I do that, wouldn't I just be handing over everything that rightfully belongs to me to someone else?”

She shot a deeply pointed look at Eartha and Andrea.

Conrad opened his mouth to scold her again, but Lizetta beat him to the punch.

“So, you really didn't prepare a welcome gift for me, did you? I'll just give Grandpa a call and see if he got me anything.”

As Lizetta reached for her phone, the color drained slightly from Conrad's face.
