Remington watched the mother and son embrace. His lips curled upward as he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around them both.

The room was quiet, filled with a heartwarming bliss that spoke louder than words.

Remington did not pull away until a knock echoed from the door.

Lizetta lifted her head from Joy's tiny shoulder, and the baby nestled in her arms peeked out curiously.

The two adults and one child turned their heads in unison to look.

At the door, the doctor had come to check on the child after hearing from the nurses that he was awake. She hadn't expected to open the door and be stared down by three completely different yet equally stunning faces.

The doctor immediately tensed up, briefly forgetting why she had even come.

She felt as though she had interrupted a beautiful moment, thoroughly ruining the mood.

"Hello, are you Joy's attending physician? He just woke up, so could you please examine him again?"

Lizetta was the first to react. She smiled, nodded at the doctor, and stood up with Joy in her arms.

The doctor silently let out a breath of relief and hurried over.

She performed a brief physical exam on Joy, teased him with a toy, and observed his reactions.

"The little guy is perfectly fine. He's quite lively, a bold and brave baby. He shouldn't have any lingering trauma. Of course, if he cries a lot and gets restless at night, that's completely normal. He just needs plenty of comfort and company from his parents. In my professional opinion, he won't be left with any psychological scars."

Lizetta's biggest fear had been that the ordeal would leave the child traumatized. Hearing the doctor's assurance, a massive weight was lifted off her chest.
